Zio is the second thrall of Bovkinna’s. She’s canonically lesbian, but unlike Vaded Vyctor and his sexuality, she was closeted and so experienced few problems related to it.

Zio’s real name is Courtney Sears, a name she long found bland and boring. Her mother died during childbirth, and when Courtney was around seven her father got arrested and taken away for unknown reasons. It seemed to them he was being wrongly accused of something. Courtney moved in with family friends; growing up without either parent, she fell into a depressive state. She became overweight, and in her teens started self-harming. She avoided students in school to escape ridicule, and ignored her desires for some of the pretty girls. But when she was about seventeen, she encountered a young, albino rattlesnake that wouldn’t leave her property, no matter how many times it was shooed away. Courtney soon realized that the rattlesnake was friendly and wanted to be with her, and her life changed. Courtney managed to lose her excess weight, dyed her long blonde hair bluish-green, and put purple contacts in her eyes. After adventuring with her new pet, Keltopher, Courtney stumbled across the thrall Vaded Vyctor, and became close friends with him (they’re not a couple as they’re both gay/lesbian). She also renamed herself Zio, but won’t be offended (just shocked) if someone calls her Courtney.

Unlike Mythindrey the hawk, Keltopher the rattlesnake is a fairly normal animal, but she is very protective of Zio. Also, Zio’s really long hair was inspired by Lazari’s (Chibi-Works ) when it was still long. And Zio’s necklace holds a bit of Bovkinna’s life essence.
