Description
8 : Greater / Takumian bear-houndAtroxidon ingens
This immense mammalian predator is one of the largest on the planet. They grow to 4-4.5 meters long and 600-900 kg. The bear-hound is a hyaenodontid that patrols the grassland and bush of Takumi. They are often a tan colour however the one featured above is a melanistic colour morph which is more common in the scrublands. Gargantuan jaws, teeth and jaw muscles aid in processing meat and bone. Very few creatures attempt to attack the beast as it is extremely powerful, and it uses its size to its advantage in some cases where they bully other creatures off of a kill.
9 : Golden scythbill / devilhawk
Diablorhynchus takumiensis
The scythebill’s are yet another group of highly derived and flightless azhdarchid pterosaurs. Instead of losing their long finger that used to be a wing, it has evolved into a raptor like hook for stabbing prey. They grow up to 5-8 feet tall, 2-3 meters long and 150-200 kg. They are capable of running at speeds of up to 70 mp/h, which is highly effective when chasing their favoured prey such as ungulates. Mobs of 3 are often found patrolling the grasslands.
10 : Greater quagga
Equus quagga giganteus
The greater quagga is a subspecies of zebra that came from the quagga of earth. The only main difference between their earthly kin and themselves is size, growing to about 3.5 meters long and 500-550 kg. They are grazers who travel in vast herds that can stretch to the horizon. They are very successful however their large size comes at a price as they are more favourable targets for large predators such as the bear hound.
11 : White tusker
Pachydontotherium takumiensis
The white tusker is a close relative of the highland tusker of watek. It is an astrapothere that has a length of around 4-5.5 meters long and almost 3 tons. They are the largest mammalian herbivores in the area and are abundant. The tusks are used for fighting and digging for foods such as roots.Very few predators interact with them unless times are desperate.
12 : Great plains armadillo
Glyptodon takumiensis
This peculiar species of giant armadillo is a glyptodont, a small yet hefty beast. They reach lengths of 1.5-2 meters long and around 800 kg- 1 ton. Their protective shells and armoured tails protect them from attacks from large predators. Glyptodonts are omnivorous eating virtually anything they find including plants, fruits, seeds and carrion.
13 : Primates - baboons, macaques and other old world monkeys
There are 5 species of primates present in the grasslands and prairies. All are almost identical to modern monkeys such as baboons. They are omnivorous and aggressive.
14 : Hyena’s
Crocuta
There is 4 species of hyena in Takumi. They all hunt in large packs to gang up on their prey as well as to bully other creatures off of their kill so they can scavenge. The largest species grows to 1.5 meters long and 60 kg
