Description Here is an example of the patch worn by the pilots of the 314th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron (TFTS) in the 1980s.

The unit was activated as part of the 58th Tactical Training Wing at Luke AFB on 1 October 1986.

On 1 November 1991, it was redesignated at the 314th Fighter Squadron under the 58th Operations Group, 58th Fighter Wing.

On 1 April 1994, the unit was inactivated.

As described by the official USAF heraldry by Maurer Maurer in the book "Combat Squadrons of the Air Force World War II", this patch is described as:

"Over and through a light turquoise blue disc, border black, a yellow-and-orange, caricatured 'warhawk' in flight, diving toward a dexter base, wearing black aviator's helmet and white goggles, while smoking a cigar, proper, leaving white smoke trail to rear, and grasping in the claws and firing an aerial machine gun, proper with cartridge belt of yellow and black shells streaming toward rear, two empty cartridge cases falling to base, all in front of a white lightning bolt burst shaded underside black".

It is a cool looking patch!
