Description
When Nyra is first staying at the library, Wan Shi Tong has a rather unsettling dream about her.
He sees his peaceful night, cool ocean and vast resources of knowledge collapsing in flames, and the precious moon donning a ring of fire as it eclipses the sun.
Nyra bursts from the sea with fire sailing off her wings, and despite how the real world works, the ocean is set ablaze, and his books, scrolls and other belongings fall into the burning water.
The entire time, Nyra maintains strong eye contact, and softly encourages Wan to come fly with her.
He wakes before he can frantically shout at and scold her...

Naturally, Wan interprets the dream as an omen of Nyra's destructive, wild, eccentric nature; Yang.
How she is relentless, confusing, and sees her as a threat to his home, but he allows her to stay out of concern that he's merely superstitious, and not giving her a fair enough chance.
This is even more kind when one factors in his disdain for fire and firebending, after what Zhao did to his Fire Nation collection.

When Nyra later accidentally burns another section of the library while defending it from a demon, Wan believes the dream was foretelling of her being destructive, and broods on that after casting her out of his home.
But even still, in her absence, the silence and order of his home drives him mad, and he brings her back home, despite his better judgment.

Later still, once the two form a relationship, Wan finally realizes that the dream is, yes, about what makes Nyra Yang-oriented, but he no longer believes it to have been about her burning part of his home, or causing trouble.
He understands now that it was about change, a little healthy chaos, and a lot of perspective.
It was about putting his stone-set beliefs under the microscope, and being brave enough to let his partner challenge him.
He had to accept that facts and information can change, too, and that life, color and even a little noise coming into his space won't tarnish it.
The dream was scary because change is scary, and having to admit he's wrong or misguided is a very difficult thing for Wan to accept.
But it gets easier with time, and if he had the chance to go back and change the course of things, he wouldn't.
He's come much too far.

I helped him un-learn religious dogma and other beliefs, although Mormonism was the biggest hurdle.
He's helped me unlearn a lot, too, and learn to love myself even when it's hard.
We help each other that way!
He's done a lot for me, but when it comes to knowledge, i'm his Nyra.
Helping the man so certain of himself, come to realize books can be re-written and outdated, and that a little chaos, aggression and loudness can go the mile.
