"It's such a great day, clear skies, a brisk breeze.." Aoi smiled as she spoke to the sky.. "What is that?" She then turned to a dark object on the plain grounds.

I look up from my meal and see the blue roan mare nearing an unknown object,"Be careful! Aoi! Watch for snakes!"

"Okay! Cae!" the dark mare called to her stallion..

*cough* *cough* I heaved from my lungs.. 'this should be gone after a few days of rest.." I then tended to my son's leg, which was torn near the fetlock.. As I licked it I could taste the blood seeping through his fur..

"I'm sorry Cale.. I didn't mean for him to get hurt," Kayley sighed as the foal latched on and started suckling..

Una's green eyes scanned the open plains.. "I'm surprised the snowstorm cleared so quickly.." she muttered to herself..

"It's alright Kay.. at least he is here and not left behind.. or born stillborn.. " I said the last bit under my breath.. I remembered one of the mares in my birth herd saying that my mother had lost her previous foal.. before she found me..
