Description My entry for the deviantART Transformation Challenge, created simply because I really like drawing transformation sequences. I originally wanted to illustrate Ki's first transformation into a dragon but I did not feel like it would be smart mixing material from my series with a contest.

What programs or tools did you use? Adobe Photoshop and a Wacom Tablet.

Where did you find inspiration for your entry? Inspiration came from stories people tell of seeing significant animals soon after the deaths of loved ones. People tend to take these sightings as signs that their dearly departed brethren are alright. I was also inspired by various articles which I have overheard about the afterlife and death. This is a personal piece, because part of the inspiration also came from the death of my paternal grandmother this past Valentine's Day and I was thinking about what animal I would want to appear as if I happened to die before my loved ones. (Heaven forbid!) I really feel after hearing all this death stuff (mainly overhearing my parents research it) that death is simply a transformation and perhaps the greatest one in our world. (However I would still prefer to be able to transform into an animal without dying! That would be pretty awesome.)

How long did it take to complete? Around six hours? I'm not sure, it was done over two days.

I don't know if I executed this well as I wanted it to be, but it's done. If there had been more panels allowed I would have drawn the spirit bounding off, happy to be freed from the trapped confines of its broken down, stiff and sick physical body. Instead you see its remorse in the third panel, as it looks back upon its body and the life that it has just left, saying goodbye with a glance.

Why a wolf? Because that is exactly the animal that I would want to appear as.

I mainly did this for fun.  Next piece will be a commission, unless I post today's cool down sketch here too.

(Resubmitting because the original file was the wrong size.)
