Once Coquette had noticed the cracking of the ground, her head had shot up in outright alarm. This didn't feel right, and the mare was quite sure that the ground wasn't supposed to open up in that manner. The normally easygoing mare was suddenly terrified. Nostrils flaring, snorting an unsure note, she pranced about. Shani, annoyed by the mare's sudden pick up, grabbed hold of the reins and sternly gave her a "Calm down."
Confused, the big mare nudged the blonde, wondering why she couldn't see or hear the cracking either. It was starting to grow, and that didn't settle with Coquette at all. Shani huffed when Coquette began to circle around her, and it was only then that she turned around and saw the quake. The ground was beginning to rumble now. The same kind of fear jolted down Shani's spine, and she was quickly gathering her reins and mounting the mare, hoping that a sprint would carry them as far away as possible from this wreckage.
Atop the mare, Shani calmed herself down and then looked around for the best possible answer. Underneath her, Coquette was shifting nervously, pacing back and forth in an attempt to get her rider to move somewhere. All of the other horses seemed to either have complete control of themselves or just appear as nervous as Coquette. It was a nerve wracking situation. Shani couldn't find a safe way out of it. She knew she should be looking for Monica and Simon, to make sure they get away safely as well. With all the the chaos, though, Shani couldn't make much sense of anything.
Annoyed, the pair loped along the crack, trying to find any sense. Coquette had to perform a sideways leap when the crack decided to open further. With Shani in a hopeless mess, Coquette's anxiety rose. She reared, having no other way to protect herself. She only prayed that Shani would get them out of this mess and that her coat would not be dirty by the end of this.
Finally, though, Shani pulled the mare away from the widening earth and dug her heels into her ribs. Coquette reacted with a lunge forward. The blonde leaned forward into her saddly, urging the big mare to run faster and harder. Coquette happily obliged, preferring to be anywhere but there. Shani hardly had any time to think about the friends she had made. This trip wasn't exactly what she had had in mind - she knew there would be danger, but this was ridiculous. What if someone fell down into that gap? And here she was, galloping away from everyone. What if there really was someone who needed the help?
Pulling hard on the reins, Shani steered Coquette back towards the cracking earth. The mare, confused and angered by the audacity, dug her heels into the ground. It took everything Shani had to grab onto the mane and keep from flying over her head. " Coquette! " she shouted angrily. " Don't you pull this shit on me now. Get the hell up there. Someone might need our help, " With that, she gave Coquette another nudge in her sides. The mare tossed her head about, throwing an angry fit. There was no way she was going back there. This girl was insane! Ears pinning, Coquette lunged forward once more, this time rounding her back in mid gallop, throwing up her back legs in a massive buck. Caught completely off guard, Shani went tumbling down to the ground.
" Coquette, you asshole! " she shouted after her, carefully finding her feet and brushing herself off before checking for injury. Her wrists hurt the most, having felt a lot of the impact when Shani had tried to catch herself before hitting the ground. She was definitely going to be sore, but that wasn't her first priority anymore. Now she had to find her mare, all the while avoiding that splitting earth and screaming horses.

This was going to be my mandatory image, but I didn't like it much so I decided to do something else. I had already had this lined, though, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to color it in and use it as a bonus image. I have some others in mind, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to complete those by the deadline.. if not, I'll just fill in with stories xD The anatomy on this sucks... it was originally to be used for human practice buuuut it's okay I guess. My humans suck anyway. Minimal shading because I can.
