I feel very lucky that I got into contact with a tribe that lives near this odd forest. they told me how this altar works. though, the tribe also added that whoever really went into the portal (which extends from the altar) never returned. that leads me to believe that the "you will meet by chance" part of the prophecy is true in that remark. This does not give me the confidence of trying it but... at least I have nothing left to lose.
