You might be on to me or you might not have a clue
It’s simple now but when life was happening I freaked
There was so much out there, unsettled, yet it leaked

Out of the air, into my eyes, and buried into my beat
I can feel every move of my heart at the bottom of my feet
You see what you didn’t know was your words didn’t resonate
They bounced right off me, fell into my soles, waiting to detonate

So when the clock struck 2 and you looked at me that was the start
You were no longer finding me, you were searching through each part
The temperature turned up and my hands were sweating
I was terrified of what your stares could be getting

Each dart you threw seemed to leave an everlasting mark
Boom, boom, boom, is that the beating of my heart or the dart?
Tranquilized by something more powerful than me
This is far more dangerous than what I thought I would see

Did you know you stoned me cold, turned yourself into gold?
Left me out there floundering without water, uncontrolled
Until you showed me where the ocean was so I could swim again
It’s funny now looking back but I was scared to death then

All I see is that black dress swinging and your blonde hair dancing
Music you played and asked me to play, and then you were singing
I had no idea who you even were but you made me want to know
That was the first night, you were the masterpiece of the everlasting highlight show
