Description

EDIT: Looking back, the wing design was a bit wonky, a little too much so. So, I went back and redid them to be more like the canon design for him, with the ridonkulous hand wings. It's not perfectly like the actual Toho design, but I feel it's similar enough to feel like a Ghidorah, but also warrant actual flight. Shorter arms, enlarged hand with long fingers, like a hummingbird almost. I feel it works the best.

I was looking back on my older stuff, and came across the designs I did for the Red's Destruction kaiju crew. For the most part, I like the designs, I wouldn't change much of anything. However, for Ghid, I didn't really like how I did the design for him; some things were just too wierd. So, I remade him! And stayed more true to the Ghidorah part of him, hence the wings.

Instead of the weird skull thingies embedded into his body, which I'm sure would restrict his movements a whole heckin' lot, I made them skull adornments. Like Anguirus, he can take them off if he pleases. Also, it's a bit of an ironic twist to him; the skulls are really off-putting, and he's super friendly.

His personality? Very friendly, always willing to try and help, super smiley, and like, really clumsy. Not just in the fact that he went from a bipedal creature to a quadrupedal one *coughcoughrodancough*, he's very stuttery. His thoughts can and will easily get mixed up, so the word salad that tumbles out of his mouth sometimes is barely comprehensible. Not to mention not having two other heads with their own senses. You can sneak up on him, and that fact alone makes him rather uncomfortable in this form

And now for his powers. He does have telepathic powers, all the same ones as Grand King Ghidorah has, he just refuses to use some of them (they're very violating). He does have the gravity lightning beam, he's just filed it away under "desperation." So, for an alternate, he gave himself the ability to breathe fire, and to be able to control every single aspect of it, all thanks to Terra's magic. He can also astral project himself, which was how he communicated with humanity deep in the earth.

(also because of his fire breath ability his eyes will become solid white. The lore friendly reason behind this is because the white fire fills his eyes and blocks the pupil and iris behind it. The real reason was it looked cool and I couldn't give him irises in the full body without it looking stupid. But hey it's another thing that makes him off-putting)

I was thinking of possibly he was just like any other Ghidorah, a dreaded space tyrant, before getting bored of the same destruction stuff and falling asleep in an asteroid. He wakes up several times over billions of years, and sees the asteroid become a planet, life start, flourish and change, and eventually his hard heart softens, and he falls in love with the newest sentient species to rise. He sees all this thanks to his telepathic abilities, and with his astral projection he became known as a guardian. I just really like the idea that he's eons older than any of the other kaiju, but still being rather childlike in ways, but I still kinda also like the idea he came to the asteroid as a young Ghidorah and that's what shaped him as a being. What do y'all think?

And he doesn't like being called a Ghidorah, specifically a "King" Ghidorah. The term is just too full of malice and tyranny and destruction, not at all what he is. Gideon is the name he likes better. He heard it from a human and really got attached to it.

As for the story behind his cutie mark, it's quite layered. It's the asteroid that he slept inside of, surrounded by his chosen fire ability, vaguely in the shape of his wings and three heads/necks. Fits a lot better than the mark I gave him before

I should probably update the other ones like this too, but I'm still trying to crawl out from under this massive burnout/art block. This helped a lot, honestly, so maybe my way of crawling out from burnout will be updating my kaiju crew model sheets!
