Description
Once a trusted gaurdianHe threw his shield away
swearing that his life was his
and that he would no longer live his days
Chained to the memory
of a failed and lonesome ward
he took the time to write a prayer
and swear upon his sword
"I will no longer walk a path
that leads to fields of thorns.
I will no longer face the wrath
of the lovers she has scorned.
I will no longer defend
with broken tooth and nail
It is now my time to mend
I must go forward, onward, sail!"

The one from the Canterbury Tales, right? The poem fits the style quite nicely and tells its own tale quite well.
