Personality: A tough girl with a very rough exterior. She behaves stone cold most times and only warms up to animals or people who manage to stay around her for a few months. Although she acts rough, she is extremely well behaved and listens the first time. Her work ethic is fantastic and she seems to have no problems being used for various things around the kennel. Ruby is no companion dog and does not do well with children, and even puppies have a hard time getting on her good side.
Background: Ruby was a pup we found on the outskirts of town, being sold by a hunter who's bitch had too many puppies that couldn't be taken care of. We gladly took Ruby, her calm demeanor and quiet personality winning us over. Even the car ride home was uneventful, Ruby staring out the window as we made the way back to her new own. Ruby spent most of her time on her own, ignoring others and mostly sleeping. When she was let outside, we realized she was a natural born herder, chasing the smaller pups into small circles or trying to round up the adults. As she grew, she switched to larger animals, mostly sheep. Often our neighbors will come around to borrow her to protect their stock as they travel around.
