Description

Xander Kidna is walking home from his part-time job, playing on his portable Sega Genesis handheld and only just paying enough attention to walk in a straight line and narrowly avoiding bumping into things. Up above, a meteor shower is happening that was not on any astronomical forecast, which is in fact the seeds of an alien invasion. One of these seeds is heading straight for Xander, but unexpectedly hits the handheld gaming system first, knocking itself with the handheld into Xander's gut. It's part of a scout group of an invading collective of AI nanomachines (The Imperial Directorate), whose purpose is to prepare worlds for assimilation, to become a greater collective utopian system. The scout unit which hit Xander, as it hit the game system first, is now bound to the handheld and thus failed to take over Xander's body for its own purpose. As it is now considered defective and knows it will be terminated on sight by any of its comrade units, and as its primary directive is self preservation, it gives its knowledge to Xander and bargains for its own existence, becoming a partner and tool for Xander to transform into a defender for the planet as they fight both to stop the invading forces and for their own survival. Being a fan of Japanese hero shows, Xander dubs himself Gaming Rider OreGens.

This is the origin story of an independent tokusatsu hero web series I am hoping to start creating. It's an idea I've been mulling over for quite some time, and had actually talked about with JewWario when we were initially discussing his plans for a FamiKamen Rider web series. He loved the idea a lot, and he inspired me to try and make it become a reality. I'm hoping to make this both a great standalone series as well as an homage to my dear friend. The series backstory of course takes inspiration from one of my favorite mangas, Parasyte, as well as Star Trek and an anime that Justin himself introduced me to, called Sadamitsu The Destroyer.
