This one was fun as it involved sculpting, (yeah physically!), photography art direction and digital retouching.
See below some images of the different materials, the model is Matthias and was booked for that commission.
Btw. now it is official: I will share a booth with Howard at the Comic Con in San Diego 2013, so probably a chance to meet some of you guys there in person

Wow, this is amazing! Now I really want to read the book this was made for (though it seems the edition with your cover isn't out yet, so I think I'll wait until that is released before buying it). Blending a sculpture with a human face -- what a neat process to create this image! The end result is incredible!
