Description
This is a photo of a Snow Leopard Cub that I took at the Cat Survival Trust. The cutest things I've ever had the pleasure of seeing! We even got to stroke her! Also one of the softest things I've ever felt.

Thank you.
I think you might be slightly lost in translation there. They're actually Snow Leopard Cubs. Irbis was just the name of the Mum of the cub in *Allerlei 's photograph.

Mongolian describe this animal as irbis:
Both the Latinised genus name, Uncia, and the occasional English name "ounce" are derived from the Old French once, originally used for the European lynx. "Once" itself is believed to have arisen by back-formation from an earlier word "lonce" β the "L" of "lonce" was construed as an abbreviated "le" ("the"), leaving "once" to be perceived as the animal's name. This, like the English version "ounce", became used for other lynx-sized cats, and eventually for the snow-leopard.
The Snow Leopard is also known in its native lands as shan (Ladakhi), irves (Mongolian: ΠΈΡΠ²ΡΡ), bars or barys (Kazakh: Π±Π°ΡΡΡ [ΛbΙrΙs]) and barfani chita - "snow cheetah" (Urdu).

OMG, is that Nina?? Sooo cute!! I've never been at the trust, I only know Dr. Terry Moore from facebook where we had a couple of nice conversations.... Do you work at the trust? Are you there often? I'd love to visit the trust as well one day.... it must be amazing to see the cats face to face

I don't actually know if this one's Nina, in fact I don't know if the cubs were even named when I took this shot. I don't work at the trust, no, and I've only actually been there once. I took this shot on a photography day I spent there last year. I wish I did work at the trust, as it's a great place, which does great work. It's well worth a visit if you ever get the chance.
