Even if I have just been a babysitter/stand-in-for-a-skull to him, I really did like being around him. I liked following him everywhere, looking for clues and murderers. I liked having dinners with him, however short they were. I liked watching him rant at crappy TV that just happened to be on. I liked watching him deduct things. I like how he puts his hands in a praying position when he's thinking. I like his reaction when he figures out something. I like how he acts like a child when he's upset. As crazy as it sounds, I even like fighting with him. I just like him.

Maybe like isn't the best word for all of that. Maybe... love?

As John slowly opened his eyes, he was met with an expression he thought he'd never see on Sherlock. Genuine, heartfelt worry. He was thinking so many things to say to him. His sudden realization, his happiness to see he was alive, his honest opinion that Sherlock was probably the most beautiful thing he could think of at the moment. But the only thing that he could say after he coughed up the water and shook his head was:

"You really shouldn't yell at unconscious people. It's kind of pointless."
