Hannibal sneered up at his father Aether, his chest swelling with rage. "I may do as I please! I am no less a Highlord than you or Ares!" Spittle and beads of light went out from behind his sharp fang-like teeth. His smooth voice raised uncharacteristically as his anger grew; he cursed himself. Usually in these types of encounters he always remained level-headed. But this time Aether had gone too far. The Highest of the Lords had tried to control him for the last time. His chest swelled again; light emanated from his ribs as he prepared to launch a blaze of molten rock at Aether.
The other Highlord calmly drew a breath. "My son, I am sorry for what is next to come." With that, he mumbled something under his breath, then shot away into the galaxy below. Hannibal prepared to give chase when he suddenly stopped. A cracking noise, close to his ears, then blazing, hot white light and pain startled him to turn his head frantically. A red chip of horn hit his nose as it floated in the space around him. "No.." he hissed, as a chunk of horn broke free and began to float away. Hannibal screeched in anger and agony as the horn on his left came free of his head, accompanied by light and cracking sounds; like the sound of bones underhoof. Suddenly a new sensation dawned upon him-- his neck felt strangely light. In horror he turned, maw agape and nostrils flared. Instead of turning with him, his mane stayed put, whisping. The fading smoke-like ends of his beautiful mane drifted away from his neck as he roared in anger. Hornless and maneless, he shot away, down into the dark, with his fading tail trailing behind him.
