Well this is certainly different than the usual dragon design. And I for one like it. I wouldn't go as far as to say it looks like it could be THE next dragon design, but it certainly has potential. And by THE, i'm refering to movies, games, etc.

That's what I was thinking. (The gryphon thing.) Now she had her own game, movie, or something else, it might get a little popularity, but all i'm saying is it won't replace mainstream dragons. But you likely already knew that, and probably don't want it to given what you just said.

Schaut verdammt gut aus, etwas größere Digitalversion für dA wäre noch besser ^^ dann würd man den Detailreichtum der Federn und Schuppen NOCH besser sehen

Anfangs war es eh so, dass man quasi reinzoomen konnte...aber als ich es dann vergrößerte... x.x naja, sah furchtbar aus der Scan DX -sobald ich ein besseres Foto oder einen besseren Scan hab, werd ichs updaten~ & es dann natürlich auch so einstellen, dass man es vergrößern kann

Der Scan hat laut dA 9831×6930 Pixel Auflösung O.o
Da kannste doch ne 1600x1xxx Auflösung wählen für Detailliebhaber

When I use a lot of mediums, I feel my work gets too muddy.
Just gotta practice.

I usually tend to throw every medium I have together xD though some don't work well together xD (have you tried once to draw with watercolours on acryl XDD?)

(haha, no problem, Farphyni is often called a dragon xD well, I think she looks more like a gryphon then a dragon XD? But people usually call her a dragon q.q xDD)

Then again, I kinda just randomly do it, without even planning the piece out at all.

Maybe it helps you do it the way I do: start with one medium and then use another, blabla. I better explain it with an example~ -> Here I started with the background. At first I drew the entire sky with acrylics, then used a light brown watercolour all over the rock, then added details & the grass with coloured pencils. Then I used light red watercolours for Farphynis red parts and blue one for the blue parts. Then again : details with coloured pencils. In the end I used some copics to give it some final touches

Yep. Cuz' if you draw the creature first && then the bg it can easly happen that you draw into the creature, especially if you work as unclean as me >.< at least to me happend that very often xD So I started to draw bg first in such drawings.
hmmm, good question~ At first I have an idea, then I sketch it very rough on ~5x5cm. I do some of those sketches to find a pose/concept I like. Then I make a ~12x12cm sketch where I roughly position the important/... things. Now I choose the medias and maybe change the sketch. Then I choose the final size and start sketching on the original; depending on how detailed/large the piece is it can take from 20 minutes to 2 hours^^ (well, one time I needed 5 hours xD,...but the sketch was really detailed~ though it wasn't necessary I just wanted to do it, 'cuz it was so fun :3 )
