However, she makes an effort to try and bond with her children, her daughter more than her son. In an act to protect her children from Nightmare, Tulip has taken to lying much easier than when she was younger and when it used to be physically revolting. However, with the change in her personality and lying, she lost the trust of her daughter, Joy, after her first child, Kovo, was unintentionally banished into the spirit realm during an internal fight with Nightmare. In a fit of anger from the newly resounded disrespect Joy has for her mother, Tulip slaps her daughter. This is the event that leads to Joy running away and forever damaging their relationship.
