Description So dance on graves,
Telling of their foolishness
And singing to the heart
Of silver
Chained deep, and not,
Reaching for the unreachable
Clouds
Of storms come and gone.
Wondering all the while
To himself,
"Will she come?"
Screaming "Or will you
Take her from me!"
Walking up and down
Graves unmarked and
Freshly dug.
Lifting head for every
Soft and possible sound
Until at last
Thunder rumbles
And gazing up at
The sky of dark
Grays and blues
Swiftly turning black,
Reach for the sky
And the freedom
Of heart and death,
From love and loneliness
Granted by her heart,
Begging to be taken,
Begging to depart
To where no man has gone
Nor ever will,
For in her heart,
If he would die
All would go still.
And those first few
Stinging drops of rain,
Shutting his eyes,
Reminding of pain
Alas only to hide
Freshly opened wounds,
And memories of the heart,
Her cocoon.
So he collapses
Onto the grave of
One long dead
And weeps of the departing,
Her steps
And voice,
Those words still ring too
True within his mind,
So he seeks,
Refuge.
To the deepest pit
Created by himself for
Himself,
In honor of
Their agreement,
Simply waiting to
Have it said.
And so the sound
He waited for came
And turned the world
Upside down,
Leaving him gapping for
Words,
Wondering what to be said.
And so she steps out,
Onto pavement and mud,
Her eyes still glistening,
Listening for what to be said,
And so his heart turns
To her
And that deep suffering,
Even if it was
Broken,
It shouldn't have to be said.
"I'm so sorry," she whispers taking hold,
And bears with his tears
As thoughts take hold,
And he utters one thing
"I should have known"
