I'm sure I sound obnoxious. Please appreciate that my comment philosophy causes me to make suggestions that I have more intention to be read as pertaining to photography generally than to a photographer specifically. A public forum and all that. Please don't be offended if I wax didactic. Doubtless, you could teach me much more than I could you.

I'm not specifically unimpressed. From the thumbnail, I thought this was a painting-- I could tell from that distance that it was wheat. It was the way the shadows and highlights on her chest looked.
I don't buy that she's that excited about kneeling naked in a wheat field. I don't see dishonesty though-- just unforthrightness. Christina's World can't be entirely avoided, but this doesn't pretend to ask for consideration thus-- I don't disrespect it for doing that). Pressing her breasts seems to be more useful than practical. It gives her something to do with the hands, for one thing. It gives her breasts something to do on her chest. This posture, with the arched back, closed eyes, relaxed mouth, is unmistakably sexualized. Nudity doesn't have to do that though. It's not easy to get sex and nude confused. It's hard to separate them. The default, especially where where attractive women are concerned. No one goes around saying, "I don't like your nudes. They remind me too much of sex." But perhaps that's the widest edge of why I'm not specifically impressed. Does this have to takes us that far for us to notice it? Probably it does. In that respect, I can say nothing against it whatsoever. I wouldn't have visited this if it hadn't been a featured photo.
Oh, but the real problem: her posture is relative to an observor. She's aware of being seen, but not of her nakedness-- only of her nudity. It emphasizes the sexuality. She could just be having a euphoric moment, yes. That can be allowed. But more honestly... I don't buy it.
If her posture wasn't expressive of sexual desire, then you might say that there's something natural, pastoral, and innocent. Wheat is not pastoral, though. It is cultivated. It is beautiful, and it belongs in the vocabulary of intimacy-- an ocean to get lost in, of soft tones and benevolent abundance. I wouldn't call it sexual though. Wheat has an alieness to it too. Like the undersea, the tops of trees, mangroves-- forbidden. You walk there only as an interloper. It is not to be visited. However, this photo is enhanced by this exact thing.
The disorganization of the of the wheat, with a detail resolution small enough to create a homogenity of tone, makes for an interesting partial immersion for the model. We have a reversal of the figure ground convention on a fundamental level. She is *the* detail, but she is featurless compared to her surrounding. Very often, artistic nudes are spartan, spare-- with emphasis on shadow and curve (a curve is a self-contained relationship, a single equation) instead of any over-all relativity. With this, the ground is close enough to halt at the edge of the photo. It doesn't feel like it's going on forever (as a wheat field will). I honestly have to think, "how far into the field is she, really?" I can't help that the question comes to mind-- and I feel it's because of the composition.
If I were asking for another shot, taken less than a minute from when this was taken, I'd wish for softer tones-- a different orientation of camera and model relative to the light-- to produce less abrupt changes in shade in her skin. I'd ask for more immersion-- more obscurity. I'd ask for less sexual intention over all. The fact that her eyes are closed suggests to me that I'm asking for things that the photographer really didn't have in mind-- which is to say, read these comments lightly. I'd ask for a wider shot. The composition of this makes the setting secondary. I think it should be the primary informant as to the meaning of the model's pressence, posture, and intention. No observable intention would be okay with me. The intention I find is garbled (sex why? hands on breasts why?) to the point that I feel that I can only rely on a narrow definition (haptic intention, relative texture, complementary color, etc.)-- but that there is nothing definitive-- nothing deeper than the illustration of one or two ideas. Nothing bigger to endeavor to contain, or travel through, beyond.
Composed as it is, for what it is, it is very well done-- laterally, it feels right. It is memorable, and it deals mostly honorably with its subject matter. The contrasts in her skin are a strong detail that allows the subject to assert. It's not that overbearing, despite wishes noted above. It's an amiable experience. Amiable, not intimate. Sincere, not serious.

I am puzzled by this text, taht I would hardly call a critic. I am flattered that my pix has helped you produced such a beautiful and echoing text. I am worried that there are more form than substance to what you wrote, and i am even more worried that I may have missed your point.
Is it too much to ask to reduced it to 5 sentences, althoough I do agree that any form of simplification is an insult to intelligence....

technically wonderfull, composition, color, mood...but a topless model covering her nipples with her hands...is so...un-natural looking...her facial expression gives a feeling of freedom and care-free attitude, as if there isn't even a photographer in front of her, but the hand of her nipples, suggests otherwise.
I imagine the idea here is to show a woman in total isolation, cut off from the world, everything else...in reality, if this were the actual case, I doubt she'd care enough to cover herself on purpose.
A more subtle and real approach may be having her lower down into the wheat so its the wheat that keeps her covered and makes the photo look more real and natural.
I personally think that many photographers never think about that because their thoughts are focused on being provocative with this kind of image, and at the same time being concerned of the viewers propensity to be offended.
However, very well crafted.

You are giving one possible reading of the image. An other one is that she was care-free in the wheat, breasts exposed and that,all of a sudden she feels some one coming and she covers her breast. To me her attitude is one of "return to civilization" after a moment of liberty.
But of course, this is my vision and there is no obligation to share it...

in that case, i'd think/like to see a shocked/startled facial expression. Had she been startled into covering her breasts, by the time she had them covered, surely her facial expression would have shifted.

there is something about the angle of the shot that gives the grain a feeling of endlessness, which matches perfectly with her maturity. the one thing that i think detracts from this is the stiffness of her fingers, implying a concern for covering up that betrays the feeling of satisfaction conveyed by her face's expression.
also, the imperfection of her hair color makes her really seem a part of the nature surrounding her. great job.
