Description
I was encouraged to render an entire SNES controller on an emulation forum after submitting some sample work for a logo project. My goal was to render every microscopic nook, curve, and seam as closely as possible to the real object. Ultimately I decided on the European controller as I liked the look of it more than the rather boring US version. The plastic grain is simulated by noise bump-mapping. The curves and seams on the face of the controller were done by my technique of using 'thickened' splines. The splines are then converted to editable polygons, allowing me to subtract unwanted/unused areas for a perfectly smooth look.
Rendered in 3DS Max. All work is completely original interpretation of my own SNES controller.
