History: Sweetwillow wasn't born in RiverClan. She was originally a loner kit that refused to share her name with the patrol that found her. RiverClan took her in and gave her the name Sweetkit when it became apparent that her family wouldn't be coming to claim her. Had they simply looked just outside their territory, they would've found her mother and littermates dead. Sweetkit had poisoned them prior to being found and felt nothing over killing them. They were standing in her way, so she got rid of them. Upon coming of age to begin her warrior training, she was named Sweetpaw and was apprenticed to Ripplestar himself. Many believed that Sweetpaw was half-RiverClan and even suspected that Ripplestar was her father. He really was so fond of her and she did seem to share a few physical similarities with him, but none of them could definitively prove that the two were kin. Sweetpaw was incredibly sweet and charming, able to talk her way out of some unnecessary fights (words won't work every time). She was also calm and clever, so it was no surprise that Ripplestar gave her the name Sweetwillow at her warrior ceremony. During all that time, not a single one of them ever figured out that a great lust for power was hidden beneath that sweet smile and silver tongue. Any cats that came close to finding this out were dealt with and their deaths were cleverly disgused as the result of a border dispute or an unfortunate encounter with a dangerous rogue or a vicious animal. Sweetwillow's ultimate goal was to take over the entire forest, and becoming leader of RiverClan was step one of that plan. After all, who wouldn't want to follow someone as sweet and wise as her? Luckily for the Clans, her scheme was derailed before she even had a chance at becoming the next deputy. Sweetwillow's first and only apprentice, Shellpaw, discovered her plans and relayed them to Ripplestar. The following investigation also revealed the murders Sweetwillow was responsible for: three RiverClan warriors, a ThunderClan warrior, and a WindClan apprentice. Ripplestar sentenced her to death for her crimes against RiverClan and the warrior code, but she made a quick and clever escape before her execution. Of course, Ripplestar had his finest warriors pursue her. They cornered her at the gorge and engaged her in battle. She put up a good fight despite being outnumbered, but was eventually pushed over the edge. She expected to drown since the river was flowing fast enough that even the strongest swimmers had little to no chance at survival, but she instead landed head first on a large rock with enough velocity that her skull cracked open. She was dead before she hit the water.

As far as her personality goes, Sweetwillow is a textbook example of a psychopath: highly intelligent, superficially charming, self-centered, cruel, manipulative, a pathological liar, and incapable of feeling love or remorse.

And yes, she's smiling because that's how she pulls you in: with a saccharine smile and honey-coated words. Although, it doesn’t quite work as well for her as it used to since Dark Forest cats can see a tiny bit of brain through that crack in her skull. It makes her sweet little kitty act more off putting than charming.

For the record, whether Ripplestar is Sweetwillow’s father or not has no effect on her character or how her story goes. You’re free to debate the subject, but it’s ultimately irrelevant. Sweetwillow herself doesn’t care and never will (and I’ll never tell).
