  if you use this.

“Intelligent life is right under your short, ignorant nose” – this is a loose quote from professor in behavioural biology Frans de Waal – that is described in his book “Are we smart enough to know how smart animals are” (a very very good book even though I don’t really like the title).

In relation to the question “what does it mean to be human”; humans desperately search for other intelligent life in outer space and simultaneously refuse to allow the notion that there is very intelligent life right under their ignorant short noses. Intelligent life that they refuse to regard as intelligent because they don’t understand it. That is a very strange paradox that does not make any sense. It only witnesses of arrogance.

And he’s absolutely right. Humans search do desperately in outer space to find “a kind like them” and thereby they completely forget how much they have in common with their fellow intelligent mammals on Earth. And point being, Life elsewhere is probably so different that they won’t find any being more similar than their fellow mammals. The chances that there is Life elsewhere in space that is as similar to humans as that mammals (also humans) are to each other, is pretty much nihil.

There are still so many fascinating, ununderstood and highly advanced forms of intelligence in the animal kingdom that it is downright stupid to just overlook that and regard that as “just animals”.

So just look around and marvel at the HUGE variation and fascinating forms of intelligence among other animals.
