That series needed to end a LONG time ago. The only reason it doesn't is because of Salvatore's conracts, etc. I stopped reading after a while because it just started to bore me cause instead of acting like this awesome kick ass dude, he was turning into a whiny bitch...lol.

I have the Thousand Orc series, I believe, and honestly, it could have ended before that. He's (Salvatore) even stated that HE did NOT want to bring Wulfgar back; that he wanted to leave him dead. But Wizards of the Coast told him that he needed to find a way to bring him back.
From the first book until to what I've read, he used to be a warrior, someone to be feared. Now? He acts like some pussy I'd take on with my hunting knife; and win! Characters grow certainly, but usually for the better.
