Gotham City, the City of Tears: known for it's old and gothic architecture, fascinating history, and most notably these days, crime. Gotham City was being torn apart by the various gangs and super criminals that turned the city into their own little playground and even the police could not handle it and that's where special reinforcements come in: the Batman and Nightwing. Their particular set of skills combined with their tech allowed them to take on threats that the police could never face: Bane, Clayface, The Joker, Deathstroke, and more but it just didn't seem to be enough with criminals acting like weeds: you put one in prison, another just takes their place. If only there was a more permanent solution...well that's where SHE comes in.
The Gotham Museum Antiquities, home of many strange artifacts, became victim to a break in one night with the perpetrator being twenty five-year-old Jervis Tetch AKA The Mad Hatter, a brilliant scientist turned psychopath in his search for love in form of replicating a fictional character. Tetch made his way through the museum, the alarms ringing but he did not seem to care as he would explain,
"With my lovely March Hares making their trouble on the other side of the city..." Tetch shattered a glass case with his cane, allowing him to grab a metal artifact which appeared to be in the shape of a golden rose bloom. Tetch's fingerless gloves caressed the object with glee and anticipation, "...the Batman will be too busy to care about me." Or so he thought only to be proven wrong by a familiar voice, booming from above,
"That's where you're wrong, Hatter." Tetch turned around, gazing up to see a pointed eared figure glaring down upon him, a figure that he knew all too well: it was the Batman perched upon a ledge. Tetch's eyes narrowed in disdain as another figure dropped down from above and landed right behind Tetch, crossing his arms: this figure was younger, wearing a bird moniker rather than a bat,
"Item's not for sale Jervis but I can show you to the gift shop." Nightwing stated, readying two batons in his armored hands while Tetch scowled lightly underneath his large tophat.
The villain took a deep breath, his long purple trenchcoat tails fluttering so softly while he removed his signature hat revealing the young man's blonde locks,
"Tsk tsk, Batman and Nightwing. So rude to ruin the party. Come with me and we will laugh and sing." Nightwing rolled his eyes,
"Uh-uh, we're not putting up with the rhyming." Hatter shrugged, reaching into his hat,
"Very well. But first, let me send you both to HELL!" Batman called out,
"Nightwing! Look out!" Nightwing would be shocked, literally, by a seemingly simple playing card which embedded into his armor to deliver an electric shock, knocking the young vigilante down to his knees, paralyzed. Nightwing would scream as Hatter ran off, giggling wildly. Batman glided down, checking on his apprentice who groaned, removing the metal playing card,
"Go! Get this asshole before he escapes again!" Batman would nod then charge after the Hatter, quickly shortening the distance between the two,
"Catch me if you can, Batman! But beware, the jabberwocky's nearby." As Hatter traced the trim of his hat gently with his fingers, his other hand reached into his pocket to remove a red bag of tea which he tossed to the floor behind to create a massive explosion of fire but it is not that easy to get rid of the Dark Knight as he responded with rapid reflex, firing his grapnel gun into the ceiling allowing him to rappel himself into the air to transition into a glide; The Mad Hatter would glance back just in time to see Batman's boots collide with his face, sending the criminal rolling to the ground. Slow and steadily, Batman would march up towards the downed Hatter, executing his signature glare the whole time; the moment Batman was close, Hatter would throw three playing cards similar to shuriken but Batman was quicker, utilizing his cape like a shield and allowing the cards to embed themselves in the thick material: two exploded while the third let out an electric shock similar to the one used on Nightwing only it didn't seem to affect the Caped Crusader. Batman knelt down, grabbed Tetch by his shirt, lifted him up a bit, then simply spoke,
"Stay down." With one heavy punch, the Mad Hatter found himself knocked into the ground, heavily dazed as the artifact rolled onto the floor: Hatter would stare up at Batman, the hit to the head blurring his vision,
"...A-Ali-" Nightwing's baton would smack Hatter against his head, knocking him out cold. Nightwing stood up once more as Batman took the artifact and glanced over to his once-ward,
"You were sloppy." Batman commented in his usual cold and emotionless attitude while Nightwing rolled his shoulders, trying to relieve himself from the pain,
"Yea. I'm fine by the way." He looked to the artifact as Batman analyzed it,
"So what did Wonderland want with this thing?" Batman would then start walking with it towards the front entrance once police sirens could be heard while Nightwing lifted the Hatter up onto his shoulders,
"We might have found had you not knocked him out." Nightwing did not care,
"Eh, worth it."
~
Minutes later, Nightwing would toss the unconscious Hatter into the back of an armored police vehicle with his hands visibly in handcuffs while an older gentleman in a trenchcoat, glasses, and fedora was speaking with Batman,
"Jervis Tetch. About time he was caught. Now if only we could lock up Dent or Cobblepot." Batman was still examining the artifact but he did manage to turn his attention to Commissioner James Gordon,
"We'll get them, Jim. We'll get them all." Gordon would sigh, rubbing the back of his neck in frustration,
"I hope so...." Batman cocked an eyebrow at Gordon's response,
"You alright, Jim?" Gordon would take a puff of his cigar,
"Bah, it's nothing. Just tired of these freaks popping up or escaping every five minutes. Starting to think we need better solutions." Batman would then place a hand on his old friend's shoulder,
"Hang in there, Jim. It's not an easy fight but it is winnable." Gordon just nodded then glanced to the rose artifact,
"So what is that thing anyway? Why did he want it?" Batman held up the item once more to peer at it with intrigue,
"Tetch has become obsessed with finding someone to love. He must have thought this would impress a girl." Gordon just scoffed with amusement as Nightwing commented,
"Guess this guy's never heard of online dating? Anyway, I gotta call it in for the night. You got this, Bats?" Nightwing shut the armored car doors after a couple of armed police officers entered. With a pat on the vehicle from Nightwing, Batman replied to his friend with,
"Go on home, Nightwing. Get some rest. Gordon, if you don't mind, I'd like to run an analysis on this. Just to be safe." Gordon just nodded as Nightwing grappled away,
"Go ahead, Batman. More than likely you'd crack this case before my CSI guys would."

The Batmobile rolled up into the Batcave with the hatch sliding open, allowing Batman to climb out, pulling his cowl back like a hood to reveal the face of Bruce Wayne who made his way to the Batcomputer to sit and continue admiring the rose. Meanwhile, a British man's voice came from behind,
"I watched the whole thing from your cowl's feed. You seem quite positive there is more to this...rose than meets the eye." Loyal butler Alfred, he began to pour a cup of tea beside his surrogate son,
"There were plenty of jewels and other expensive artifacts he could have stolen but he went straight for this one. Why?" Alfred handed Batman his tea which the man politely accepted,
"Young Tetch seems to be obsessed with that Wonderland book. Perhaps he was going to paint it red." Bruce glared at the rose a bit more then felt his eyes become heavy,
"Ngh. Eighty hours without sleep..." Alfred gently pat Bruce upon the back,
"Bruce Wayne does have no plans tomorrow. Perhaps it is time you get some well-needed rest." Bruce wanted to continue, it was in his nature but soon enough, his body and logical mind dictated that he needed to get some sleep,
"Right...good idea." Bruce set the rose down upon the Batcomputer desk then made his way to the suit containment units.

One hour later in the Bowery District of Gotham City, a feminine figure can be seen making her way through the streets: she makes her way to clothing store only to see a 'SORRY! WE'RE CLOSED' sign mounted on the glass door, she sighs with disappointment as she appeared to be wearing nothing more than a tank-top and shorts. The sound of a door opening in the alley catches her attention so she glances downward to see a side exit opening as a man is seen hauling clothes in a box to a storage area; the woman approaches gently, speaking with a British accent,
"Excuse me, sir. I could use some fresh clothes. I have money..." The man saw the woman was practically shivering in her current outfit,
"Oh! Sure, this is my lost and found. Look for yourself." The woman's face was still obscured by the shadows but she nodded, rubbing her arms as she entered the storage,
"Thank you so much." She started searching through the several boxes of clothes, looking for something perfect as the store owner waited just outside, trying his best not to peak at the quite beautiful lady. That's when a man wearing clothes that symbolized the Two-Face gang came up and put a knife to the owner's neck,
"Two-Face needs ya to pay up! Or we get to see what your innards look like." As this happens, the woman in the storage appears very plase, just trying on items as she heard the mugging take place. The owner gasps and breathes fast with fear,
"M-Money is in the vault inside! Let me get it...just...follow me." The thug follows the owner towards the door only for the two to stop at the woman's voice,
"You know, if there's one thing I hate, it's a coward. You fit right in that category, mate." The woman stated as she stepped out of the storage, wearing a dark blue leather jacket, corset, and fish leggings that contrasted beautifully with her long inky black hair. The thug scoffed them approached her,
"What did you say, bitch? I oughta cut you." The second that the thug was close, she punches him across the face with her fingerless gloves, making the man groan as he's knocked backward. He glanced back to see the woman crossing her arms,
"You're welcome to keep trying." Angered by the woman's attitude and hit, the thug ran forward, swinging his knife only for her to dodge, grab his arm, and break it to bend in the opposite direction. Screaming with pain and agony, the knife is dropped which she catches,
"Wait! I-I'll leave him alone! J-Just let me go..." The woman observed the knife, twirling it in her hand before smirking at the criminal,
"Hmm..." Pretending to give it some thought before grinning, "Nah." She sends the blade through the man's temple, impaling his brain, killing him almost instantly as his body dropped fully to the ground. She glances to see a secondary knife on the man, he had two holsters for the two blades which makes her smile, "I'll take that." Clipping on the holsters, she started her way back down the alley entrance as the store owner stared in horror. As her high heels clicked against the pavement, the owner called out,
"Wait! Who are you?" The dark-haired woman stopped in place, staring back at the owner in the corner of her eyes with a smirk spread across her lips,
"My name is Alice."
