Description
My name is Scott Harrison and this is my story.Despite being a worker at LexCorp, I was a huge supporter of metahumans, aliens, and vigilantes alike across Earth. My boss, Lex Luthor, was a huge anti-meta fanatic so I tried not to speak my mind too much at work since the job paid pretty damn well. I was your average joe: wake up, go to work, come home, relax for a bit, go to sleep, then go back to work the next morning. Being a security guard at LexCorp, I was fit but I wasn't some body builder: I was lean, somewhat tall, had short black hair, and hazel brown eyes. Tedious life but it paid the bills and put food on the table, especially when you work for the second richest man in the world. Little did I know that my opinions on metas would end up changing my life forever...
An attack on Metropolis meant I was stuck at work: the Justice League were facing off against the monarch from Kahndaq known as Black Adam. He proved to be quite a threat as he removed a green rock from a pouch sending a few Kryptonian heroes to the ground. It wasn't long before I noticed a LexCorp truck pull in carrying a capsule which LexCorp employees strolled through the building with urgency. My curiosity got the better of me so I followed making sure to blend in amongst the crowd until reaching a massive laboratory underneath the surface where the big man himself was waiting: Lex Luthor,
"Bring it to the table!" Luthor demanded as the capsule was opened to reveal the Kryptonian from another universe: Power Girl who seemed unconscious as the scientists lifted her up onto an examination table fitted with tools with conveniently built in Kryptonite shards. My eyes were drawn to my smartphone with a live broadcast from Jimmy Olsen, showing that the League had defeated Black Adam who was on his way back to Kahndaq. I wanted to maybe alert the League of what was happening but I didn't have the courage so I just sat there and watched as they used the Kryptonite utensils to collect Power Girl's blood.
A few days went by and I made sure to make my way to the lab to watch as they continued to harvest Power Girl's blood adn each day, she looked more and more withered and weak. I tried any way to contact the Justice League but to no avail so instead I had to try and break Power Girl out of this godforsaken place which wasn't going to be easy. One day, Lex had spent his whole day synthesizing a serum which Lex placed inside a syringe, ready to be tested: the formula glowed a bright yellow. I remained hidden in an empty locker as Luthor spoke,
"Finally. I have synthesized Kryptonian power in a single injection. So many possibilities." I went wide eyed from the idea of what that serum could do to someone as imbalanced at Lex Luthor so I needed to act. I was going to spring a trap but luck was on my side as Mercy Graves' voice came over the intercom,
"Sir! We have a problem up here. You better check it out." Luthor growled slightly, set the serum down on the table, then marched towards the door leaving the lab whilst speaking out loud,
"I'm on my way." Once I knew the area was clear, I stepped out. I made sure to put the security cameras on a constant one hour loop of Lex working in his lab so I was able to walk around without being spotted. I immediately made my way to the table where I immediately took every piece of Kryptonite I could find then placed them into an incinerator along with any samples of her blood and Kryptonite rocks that LexCorp had in this place. I did this in hopes to help Power Girl regain her strength, however when I returned she still continued to wither; resembling a skeleton with skin by this point who put her hand on my shoulder, quietly gasping the words,
"Don't. Let. Him. Win." And right there, I felt her go limp in my hands as she passed away. I was too late. Her carcass shriveled up into a husk of a skeleton right before my eyes while I leaned over the table: rage and sadness overloading my body making me simply roar out furiously which unfortunately deafened me to the sound of a door opening. However what I did hear was my employer's voice yelling,
"You! What have you done!?" Fighting back tears, I looked to Luthor with pure rage and he could definitely see it. However Luthor's eyes shot over to the serum, the only surviving sample of his experiment which I also took notice of before the two of us stared each other down, ready to dash at any second: I wasn't going to let him win. Luthor lost his patience then started sprinting towards the counter however I was closer so I ended up swiping the syringe then sliding across the floor right between Luthor's legs, allowing me to run for my life through the LexCorp facility.
The red alert went off and I knew it was because of my actions so I didn't stop for a second, not even for any of my fellow security guards: I used my experience in mixed martial arts to fight off as many as I could. Thankfully none of them were using firearms because they needed the syringe still intact so I used this weakness of theirs to get passed them, I even ended up kicking Mercy Graves into the atrium's water fountain and by god, that felt good. I hated her since I started working there. The main entrance was blocked off so I ended up exiting the building through a side entrance into a large alley way but the chase wasn't over for I saw more LexCorp guards waiting for me so I continued to run in the opposite direction. I was keeping an eye out behind me so I was not paying attention to my front which led to me literally running into another group of guards, colliding with one who grabbed me by my neck,
"Gotcha, Harrison! You're mine now!" I wanted to fight back but I just stood there unable to breath as I felt an immense pain in my chest so my hand reached up to feel that Luthor's syringe was embedded into my chest and the plunger pressed in meaning the serum had been accidentally injected into my system. Fear became more and more intense as I began convulsing in this man's hand, making the guards stare at me with pure horror. I went from being unable to breath to breathing just fine so my hand reached up, grabbed the guard's hand, then pulled to the side but the result was not what I expected: the man was flung through two different walls. I stared in shock, unable to comprehend what was happening to me, then gazed down to my hands to see them...change. My hands became slimmer, more dainty with my fingers extending in length. I looked to the rest of the LexCorp guards who were frozen but they seemed to regain courage because I saw them all charge at me. The last thing I remembered was my vision going completely bright red before blacking out.
---
I awoke to a bright light above me, it felt like thousands of lights hitting me at once so I grunted and turned my head away. I opened them once more to see what appeared to be an infirmary so I groaned slightly, presuming I lost the fight. That's when I heard a man's voice,
"Easy, miss. Your senses will adjust. Give it a minute." Miss? I turned around to the other side only to see something I never thought I'd see: Superman, the Man of Steel, standing above me and in the room with him were Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Zatanna, and Red Tornado all gazing upon me with concern (except for Batman who looked indifferent) which nearly made me jump out of my bed. My head turned over to a window which at first gazed out into the night but instead, I was looking at outer space as Earth came into view: I was on the Justice League Watchtower! Superman smiled at me then spoke,
"Don't be alarmed. We're here to help. What's your name?" I sat up on the edge of the bed with my feet hanging down as I felt a little weak with a headache. As I felt held my head, I noticed that my hair felt different but I didn't focus on it and instead just answered Superman,
"S-Scott..." My voice sounded odd so I cleared my throat then felt my neck which also felt different. I opened my eyes to see the League all glancing to each other curiosly then staring at me like I was some sort of anomaly, "What's...What's wrong?" My voice still sounded strange but that's when Wonder Woman approached,
"Remain calm, young sister. Tell me, Scott. What do you remember?" Sister. Why did she just call me "sister?" And why did Superman call me, "Miss?" I shook my head and that's when I noticed hair in my eyesight which made my heart beat; it wasn't even the right color hair: it was golden blonde. What was this?!? On the other side of the room, I noticed a mirror and without hesitation, I jumped out of bed and rushed right for it. Superman reached out to try and stop me only to have Wonder Woman grab his arm and order, "No! Let her go, Kal..." HER?!? I looked down on my way over to see my dainty hands only to reach up, grab the mirror right off the wall, then slowly bring it into my vision revealing my reflection. My hands started shaking, my tears began to fall, my legs gave out as I dropped to my knees all from what I was looking at and it was not a face I recognized: it was a blonde woman staring back at me. Instantly, I began sobbing out of fear followed by me shattering the mirror with my bear hands,
"NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" What has happened to me?!?
