Chapter 6 - Sara and the Bat

As I sat alone in the cafeteria, sipping from a bottle of water, I couldn't help but notice that many of the Justice League's roster of heroes were staring at me from their own tables: I don't blame them for being uncomfortable with me since I looked so similar to Power Girl. That's when I noticed a green clad man with a fancy goatee and mustache approach with a tray in his hands and sit across from me at the table,

"Don't worry about them, blondie. They'll get used to you." He smiled at me, taking a bite of an apple which brought be some reassurance but they weren't my main problem so I replied with,

"Thanks, Mr. Arrow but...what about him?" I glanced off into the distance behind Green Arrow making him look back to see Batman talking with Wonder Woman. Green Arrow just scoffed with amusement,

"That's a mystery only you can figure out, kid. He's been my best friend since middle school so I can't judge." I immediately cocked my brow with confusion,

"Wait, you're actually friends with that thing?" He burst out into laughter,

"Trust me, it ain't easy but once you get to know him, he's not a bad guy just not very user friendly." I couldn't resist smirking at Green Arrow's comments about his friend. The archer wasn't the only green man to join me because next I watched Green Lantern approach the table then sit beside Green Arrow to ask me,

"Hey, I heard about what happened in the training hall. You okay?" His care made me blush slightly so I cleared my throat and tried to act casual,

"Um...I'm fine. I just wish he'd give me a break, ya know? I'll talk to him in a bit. How have you been, Mr. Lantern?" Green Lantern just chuckled, lifted his hand to remove the jade ring making his uniform vanish revealing a man in a pilot's jacket,

"Please, call me Hal. Hal Jordan." He offered his hand to me and I just stared with shock, unable to believe he trusted me with his secret identity but I managed to reach over and shake his hand as I introduced my new self,

"Hi Hal...call me Sara." I smiled brightly and so did he. Green Arrow smirked as he glanced to the both of us,

"Eh...what the hell?" He removed his mask and hood to reveal his face which I definitely recognized from all kinds of magazines, "Oliver Queen. Nice to meet ya, blondie." I shook hands with him too and my smile became a grin: it felt so nice to have people trusting me. One by one, I noticed others heroes doing the same at their tables: removing their masks, hoods, or whatever was hiding their faces and it made me nearly tear up until I glanced to Batman who just glared slightly before walking off towards an elevator. I gave a disappointed look before immediately standing up and marching my way towards the same elevator,

"This needs to stop." I commented. Behind me, Hal Jordan stuttered like he wanted to say something to me but instead he just sighed then turned forward looking saddened. That's when Oliver nudged the pilot with a smirk,

"Want some advice, Jordan? Sitting back and hoping she just jumps into your arms won't do jack shit. Trust me, I know." Oliver took another bite of his apple as Hal took his advice and gave it thought.

Meanwhile, as Batman entered the elevator, he was surprised to see me enter just behind him then stand up to him with a determined look. I initiated the door lock and forced the elevator to stay in place with a press of two buttons before speaking up to him,

"Look, I get that you don't trust me. Nobody can blame you but constantly prying at me is not getting anybody anywhere..." Batman just stared at me without emotion as he let me speak...until I emitted, "...Bruce Wayne." He glared slightly but I was surprised to see him reach up to pull his cowl back like a hood to reveal the billionaire playboy,

"Diana gave it away, huh?" I crossed my arms then leaned back giving a smirk,

"When I hear the name Bruce, I don't need x-ray vision to figure it out. So all that stuff you do in public? Just an act?" He just nodded slowly, making me scoff with amusement, "I approve because that act makes you look like a douchebag." I joked and he couldn't help but give the tiniest of smirks,

"I know you're not a spy. I know when people lie so when you broke down in the training hall, I could see the truth in your eyes." I felt a giant force of relief so I let out a sigh, followed by Bruce continuing with, "I know I'm not easy to get along with, I never will be but just know, everything I did was for the safety of my team." I listened then made a choice that I never thought I'd do from the moment I met this man: I gave him a hug,

"You're a good man, Mr. Wayne." I decided to leave our conversation with that then left the elevator after unlocking it. I gave him a slight wave as the doors closed behind me but all he did was put his cowl back on which I pretty much expected from him. I smiled, proud to call him a friend now only to hear steps walking up to me so I turned to see Kal and Hal Jordan approach,

"Sara." Superman greeted me, "Glad to see you're feeling better." I just stretched with a grin on my face,

"Definitely! In fact, I'm feeling up for more training!" All Superman and Hal could do was smirk at me with approval.

Next thing I knew, I was back in the training hall with Kal, Hal, Zatanna, and Diana giving me lessons on fighting with both my hands and my powers. Superman was a very calm and kind teacher who very much helped me understand my heat vision and other abilities. I even managed to beat him in a race which shocked everybody! Hal helped me by creating constructs for me to fight and I even took him on in a duel but...something happened during this portion of my training: I lost concentration and focused more on Hal's shirtless body which made me feel...odd but a good odd but I still ended up beating him in the fight.

After a good amount of hours of training, I decided that perhaps it was time to end it for the day and go to my room. I thanked everyone and wished them a good night but as I made my way to the elevator, I was stopped by Hal's voice,

"Hey Sara?" I turned to him, grinning wide as he did the same but he looked nervous,

"Something wrong, Hal?" I asked him but Hal just rubbed the back of his neck,

"Um...no nothing wrong. I just. Not sure how to ask this." I was very curious and even suspected what he wanted to ask but didn't believe it, "So...there is this charity ball taking place in Heroes Park in Metropolis tomorrow night and um..." My heart starting racing because now I had to believe what he was asking me but I was too scared to try and let him finish asking so I just blurted out,

"Yes!" I was surprised at myself even and so was Hal who just looked shocked, "Um, yeah. I'd love to go with you!" We just smiled at each other but we weren't sure how to end this conversation so we stared at each other a bit longer than we expected so I asked quickly, "So...when will you pick me up?"

"Uh, does 8 o'clock sound good?" I just grinned even more then made my way to the elevator whilst saying to him,

"Sure! Don't be late, Jordan! I might have to kick you to Mars if you are!" I jested just before the elevator doors closed. Suddenly, like a force of energy, the realization of what I had just agreed to rushed through me and I was so excited and terrified at the same time, "What did I just do?"

At LexCorp, the long red haired woman that used to be Lex Luthor was browsing through an assortment of fancy dresses completely naked in her office with Mercy Graves standing awkwardly in the corner. Lex just smirked and chuckled,

"One for tonight, another for tomorrow's event." She said with a pure wicked tone, "I'm sure either Superman or Harrison will turn up and I'll be waiting for them." Mercy looked very uncomfortable so she groaned and spoke up,

"Mr. Luthor, will you please just pick someth-" Mercy was then interrupted by the new woman,

"Do I look like a "mister" to you, Mercy? No...I am a Ms. Luthor. Miss...Alexis Luthor. With my old mind, this body, and these powers? Not even Superman can stop me." Luthor then picked out a yellow dress then continued to spoke as she went through the process of putting it on, "He's here, Mercy. Would you mind giving us our privacy?" Mercy just looked confused,

"Huh?" This was immediately followed up by a knock on the office door which surprised Mercy, it appeared that Lex (or Alexis) already had her enhanced hearing abilities. Mercy was actually relieved to get out of this room so she opened the door for their guest who appeared to be Maxwell Lord whom Mercy greeted with, "Welcome to LexCorp, Mr. Lord." Lord smirked and handed the woman his coat which Mercy was tempted to throw back at him but instead just left the room to go throw it out a window in spite of everything happening.

Alexis turned, fully dressed to see Maxwell Lord and give a devious smile to the quite handsome man. She approached her desk, her hips swaying slightly as she greeted the man with a very sexy tone,

"Maxwell Lord. I must say, the magazines do not do you any justice." Lord was shocked by the woman's appearance, she was astonishing to look at but he sat down in a chair to speak to her,

"Well...thank you, miss. I don't mean to be rude but I have a meeting with Lex Luthor and I'd like to get along with that. Maybe I can see you afterwards?" Alexis just chuckled before sitting on top of her desk in front of Lord,

"Lex is...not quite himself at the moment. I'm giving him a hand and taking his place while he's away." She offered her hand to Lord, "I'm Alexis Luthor. His sister. Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Lord." Maxwell Lord took her hand gently only to give it a light kiss,

"Pleasure is all mine, Alexis and please...call me Max." Alexis just giggled wickedly with a slight blush,

"Well Max...why don't we get to business, huh?" Max would let go of Alexis' hand as he leaned back in his chair,

"Very well. I'm here yet again to propose a merger of Lord Industries and LexCorp. I've been proposing for many years and each time, your brother has declined. I was hoping that today would be different. 50/50 deal. With as much money both our companies make, a merger would make us so much more." Alexis stepped off her desk and approached Lord to climb onto his lap whilst chuckling the words,

"Well you'll find that I am much more..." She straddled his lip, "Lenient than my brother." Max was surprised by her actions but did not disapprove of them, in fact he smirked and put his hands on her hips,

"You work fast, Alexis." She leaned down to embraced Max for a long, sensual kiss before releasing with a wicked grin on her face,

"Lex and I share a trait: I know what I want, and I always get what I want." One of Max's hands reached back to get a firm grab of her butt cheek,

"You share that with me too." The two would kiss once more: Alexis giving into her feminine urges as Mercy observed the silhouettes through the blurred glass door making out with each other, groping each other then hearing Alexis whisper, "Wanna head upstairs? My brother's penthouse is free." Followed by Max asking,

"Hope he doesn't mind the mess." Alexis just laughed,

"And if he does. That'll make it more fun." Mercy would listen as the two walked up the secret stairs hidden in the office towards Alexis' penthouse while Mercy would walk off groaning the words,

"This is a nightmare..."
