Chapter 7 - Date Night

I flew at full speed through the Watchtower until I found Zatanna making me come to a grinding halt as I gazed upon her in fear due to what had just happened previously. Zatanna gazed upon me looking worried that something terrible happened until I blurted out,

"Z! I just got a date with Hal!" Zatanna immediately went from fear to amusement as she emitted a laughter which made me blush big time, "Z...come on, I need your help!" Zatanna finished up her laugh, wiping a tear that came from her laughs, "What do I do? What do I wear? Should I just run and hide?" Zatanna stepped up and wrapped her around me once she was beside me,

"Hey, hey. Chill, Sara. We got this. Let's focus on clothes for now." After a wink, we walked off.

As we moved to my quarters, I told her about how Hal Jordan invited to go with him to a Charity Ball in Metropolis. I'll be honest, my heart was pumping faster than a Speedster's heart out of pure fear as I had zero idea what to do on a date as a woman, "It's no different than going out as a guy, sweety. We're just as nervous as they are: all that matters is being yourself with him and have fun. Talk with him, dance with him, see where things go from there. Follow your lady instincts." Zatanna winked at me after giving her advice but I just continued to look nervous, "First, we need to give you a good look. Hmm...time to be Fairy Godmother." She said with a smirk before aiming her wand towards me and speaking backwards, "Sserd lufituaeb a reh evig." I was then gently brought onto my feet by Zatanna's magic with wide eyes. Zatanna's magic then went to work as my clothes transformed into a fancy snow white dress with bright blue gloves and high heels. Once everything was finished, Zatanna gave a proud smirk as she pointed to the mirror, "Bippity boppity boop." I was scared and excited to see the end result so I slowly stepped forward and turned to gaze upon my reflection which made me freeze. Zatanna popped up behind me over my shoulder, "Oh! Almost forgot." With a flick of her wand, my face was then covered in a mild layer of makeup with sparkly eyeshadow, dark pink lipstick, and the works which made me smile bashfully,

"Z...thank you!" I immediately turned to hug her which she returned,

"My pleasure, Sara. Now..." She pulled back to look me in the eyes, "...Go break some legs." After a smirk and a wink, I smiled brightly and vanished from the room using my super speed.

The next night came around and I was waiting in the Watchtower's bridge in my new dress as I waited for Hal. I received many compliments from Clark, Diana, and others but Batman just stepped up to be his usual grumpy self,

"...Don't stay out for too long. We don't need another incident." I just rolled my eyes,

"Sure thing, Bruce." I turned to look down at Earth via the large window when I heard,

"...You also look nice." When I turned to look at Bruce, he was already walking away but I just gave a bright smile. That's when I heard Hal's voice,

"Whoa..." I turned to the side to see Hal stunned at he stared at me so my face turned red. Hal was wearing a black tux: it was my first time seeing him in something besides green energy,

"D-Do you like it?" Hal just shook himself out of his daze,

"Like it? You look amazing!" My face looked like a tomato from how red it turned,

"Thanks, Hal..." We just stood there staring at each other, clearly too scared to move with Zatanna popped up out of nowhere,

"You don't want to be late, lovebirds!" Hal just responded as he stepped beside me,

"Right...ready?" I just nodded in response then curled my arm around his before we stepped into the Zeta Tube. I glanced back at Zatanna once more before we were teleported away to see her giving a thumbs up at me.

It wasn't long before we reached Heroes Park where half of Metropolis was already attending. There was a dance floor, tables with drinks, food, and all the essentials. I received a few flattering looks from men which in turn which give me disapproving looks from their dates and/or wives: I couldn't help but chuckle,

"This is weird..." Hal could see that I was uncomfortably nervous so he spoke to me in a kind tone,

"Hey, them staring at you is a good thing. You're beautiful and they know it." I blushed once more before looking up to him,

"Wanna dance?" Hal smiled then held my waist with one hand while the other held my hand,

"Green Lantern's got this." He said quietly, making me giggle once more before I let him lead me in a gentle dance. At first I was scared, who wouldn't be? However, as the dance went on my heart calmed down and I enjoyed myself: he was a great dancer and a gentleman,

"Where did you learn to dance?" Hal just smirked as he dipped me,

"You learn a few things visiting hundreds of alien worlds." I just smirked,

"What else did you learn?" I asked in a very wicked tone which surprised both of us. With that, we continued to dance. I expected to be moving like a spastic mannequin but it's like Kryptonians had a natural grace about them since I noticed that I continued to move with Hal in perfect sync. As the song that played came to an end, Hal raised me up into the air and slowly brought me down: I breathed heavily, as did he. I nearly kissed him right there but that's when I heard slow clapping from my side,

"Bravo. Quite the show." A woman's voice made us turn to gaze upon a red haired woman who was quite beautiful but her eyes were cold and...sinister. She stood in front of Maxwell Lord who had his arms wrapped around her as he delivered a kiss upon her cheek, "Mmm, care to get us some drinks, darling? I need to speak with this woman...alone." The woman and Lord embraced each other for a kiss that seemed endless like the two were addicted to one another but soon enough Lord walked off only for the woman to stare at his rear, licking her lips. Hal spoke up,

"Anything you need to say to her, you can say with me here." The woman rolled her eyes then glared at Hal. Something about this woman was scary but I was willing to risk the danger so I looked up to Hal,

"It's okay. I got this..." I then whispered into his ear, "Keep your eyes on Lord. We all know what he's capable of." Hal stared at me, hesitant about leaving me but soon enough he begrudgingly walked off leaving me with the strange woman with her arms crossed,

"The Lantern? Interesting choice." She spoke making me glare at her,

"Do I know you?" I asked out of curiosity and frustration,

"Oh, I have changed quite a bit since we last saw each other. As did you...Scott Harrison." My heart plummeted down to my feet in shock as this woman enveiled the truth of who I used to be,

"Who the hell are you?" I clenched my fists as well as my teeth with my eyes glowing red,

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Still just as rash. Maybe you don't recognize me because of my recent upgrade but I used to be your boss until you stole from me..." My eyes returned to normal as I thought about it: it took me a few seconds but it donned on me making my eyes go wide,

"Luthor?" I glanced to the side to see Hal and Lord talking, keeping him busy. Good. Luthor chuckled wickedly,

"The much improved Luthor. Alexis Luthor." She smirked posing with her hands on her hips,

"Well...nice to know you didn't put much imagination into your new name." I sassed her making her glare at me,

"I hope you are enjoying your new body and abilities, Scott. Next time we meet, you'll never have either again." Lord returned with the drinks and Alexis immediately downed all of hers before wrapping her arms around Maxwell for an embracing kiss, "Darling, I'm bored and...in need of something." With that the two villains walked off, Alexis looked back at me once with a wink as she whispered, "LexCorp. Tomorrow night. No Leaguers or there will be consequences." I was able to hear this due to my enhanced hearing which was definitely Alexis' intention making me stand there in a fury as I just wanted to attack her now but she was with a civilian philanthropist: killing her would make me into a public villain and I would get in trouble...so I was stuck with following her instructions,

"Talk to you later, Luthor..."
