Type 100 Fast Frigates Escorts (FFE) were designed for fleet actions including scouting, fleet defense, and if necessary limited independent patrols. This particular vessel is the FFE-101 Grey Leopard. They are armed with rapid fire 3" guns in 6 single mounts; 8 21" torpedo tubes, 32 missiles housed in 16 lateral launch systems, 4 CWIS gun and 4 CWIS missile mounts, and a single Linear Main Assault Gun Escort (LMAG-E). Finally they carry two Sea Falcon multirole utility craft in their underside hanger. Their new advanced sensor array systems are rumored to be able to counter the new type heavy torpedoes currently employed by many of the navies submarine fleets. Currently there are five warships in this class.

Conceptualized as a fleet defense escort for Surface Action Groups (SAG) and Escort Action Groups (EAG) and Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) duties. The ASW component of its combat mission profile was the primary focus of designers as the submarine threat had once again been improved. This time with advanced sensors systems and new type torpedo drones capable of a high yield hyperspace detonations which compromising the local normal space around the vessel, causing tremendous damage.
The submarine ship type classification was applied to all warships specifically designed to conceal themselves and operate within hyperspace. What makes them particularly lethal are their torpedo weapon systems which are also capable of engaging enemy starships while remaining stealthed in hyperspace. The new torpedoes gave submarines the capability to knockout or kill any warship with one or two direct hits. Resulting in either completely breaking a warship's keel or blowing the ship in half. The proliferation of new advanced submarine technology has forced all nations to implement advanced anti submarine defense programs to remedy an appropriate solution. Fast frigates have arisen as the primary counter measure to the submarine threat. Though many nations with large defense budgets have dedicated destroyer and even light cruiser programs in place. Nations with small military budgets have turned to the fast frigate and fast corvette as the mainstay of their fleet ASW capability.
Currently the Type 100 FFEs are in their sea trial phase of development and by all accounts are preforming their fleet duties with flying colors. It is expected that these advanced escorts will be available for fleet inegration within the next five years.

Warships are a lot of fun to design but they are a super complex machine with a ton of details. Still the challenge is fun =^^=
