Description
Really happy with this one, I tried to challenge myself with the background and on the bricks and I think I did a good job of adding texture and pattern. Originally this was an experiment in drawing American Show lines but I wanted to go all out on this one.If you look close, you can see that Quin is wearing Aussie ear rings
Dog: Reiner vom Quincy
Show: Pedigree-Club's Dreaming of DC UKC Show
Story: 345 words
This dog was considerably more involved when it came to conformation. An inexperienced handler would think the dog was crazy. He was the kid of dog that would try to take bait out of your pocket while gaiting, refuse to stand still while you dangled bait, then try to take your fingers with it. He was also a dog you couldn't leave unattended on a grooming table. If someone walked by with any sort of food, he'd be jumping off that table. It didn't matter if he was tied up. Jackie had once witnessed Reiner jump off the table for a lady passing by with a sandwich, only to resort to standing on his back paws and putting his front paws on the table to alleviate the pressure from the grooming loop. She ended up having to rescue him by cutting the grooming loop with shears, and ever since then complained she couldn't leave him without a babysitter while he was on the table wearing a topline towel.
Quin wasn't too phased by it though, she could just sit on her phone or talk to other competitors at her table while she waited. Jackie was a busy lady, the idea of baby sitting one dog made it impossible to work the others Quin had hired her to show. The ring today was already going to be pretty tough, they had another male dog they were competing against. She was really hoping to at least go to groups, but first Reiner needed to place over the other stud. Quin folded her leash end over itself as she brought her dog in the ring, going wide to show off his gait. At the stand for exam, she tugged backwards on his collar before standing infront of him. She held some bait on the left thigh, hoping that it wasn't incredibly obvious. When the male dog shifted, she gently tugged on the leash as a correction. Once he stood still, she took several steps back. Spotting the photographer, she lifted the lead up and smiled at the judge. She hoped the judge didn't mind slobber.
