Description When people think of Historical French Leaders, their minds usually go to Napoleon. Rightfully so since he did so much to shape our modern Europe, but there are two figures from before and after Napoleon that I think are just as important:

Charlemagne and Charles De Gaulle

Charlemagne was the first emperor of the Carolingian Empire (Which would later evolve into France... or De-volve depending on your opinion) In fact, he would late be ordained Holy Roman Emperor! So Carolingia is often sighted as an early HRE! I took a few liberties with his outfit, his cloak now having his "Signus Magnus" on it just because it's an important symbol that represents him.

Charles De Gaulle was the leader of what's called "Free France" in the 1940's after the 3rd French Republic fell the the German Third Reich. He worked closely with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America, as well as a confederation of former French Colonies like Indochina, Syria and French Guyana. His hat didn't have the Cross of Lorraine on it in real life, but again with Charlemagne, I wanted him to have a recognizable symbol on it. I also gave him his "Grand Croix of the Légion d'honneur" that he received (which is the highest Military Award the French Government can give) as well as the Ribbons of the "Papal Lateran Cross" that he received from the Vatican and the "Order of the Umayyad" he received from Syria on his shoulders. I feel like he would be proud of those because he was a devout Catholic and the Irony of the So-called Umayyad (Syria) awarding a Frenchmen named Charles (See; Battle of Tours)
