This alloy is lightsaber-resistant to a sufficiently protective degree. This allows prolonged use without requiring entire guard to be forged from it, saving material and construction costs.

Unlike a conventional dual-guard design, an opponents blade can be held in tension between primary blade and trapping guard. this is accomplished by locking your opponents blade below the guard, but above the primary blade, relying on collar to bridge the two together in a tension hold.
