I found out I have the absolute laziest flatmate in the world.

After doing some more of that placement test Professor Stein gave me, I came out finally around noon to eat. Soul was just laying there on the couch, with his shoes still on from last night, watching TV. Doing completely NOTHING. His hair is all messed up, his eyes are half-open, that's the same sweatshirt he wore all day yesterday, and he's almost drooling. Definitely not as cool as I thought he was when I first saw him at the school yesterday morning. There are dishes all over the darn place too... Doesn't this guy have the word "clean" in his dictionary?

I crept past him into the tiny kitchen, grimacing at the mess in the sink. Oh, and the stove. Egg remains everywhere. Sighing, I picked up the sponge and began scrubbing. This happened last night too... I made dinner for him and he didn't even help clean up. Some partner he is.

"Morning!" he moans out to me, switching the channel. Not even looking at me.

"Good morning," I mutter back, still scraping away. This will never come off, I swear.

"Hey what's up?" Suddenly he's standing over my shoulder, watching me work at the eggs. I shrug and continue, not turning to him. If I look into those eyes, I'll be hypnotized again. I'll say nothing's wrong and that I like cleaning or something stupid like that. Man, I hate liking someone who uses me to make their food.

"...I'll do the dishes," I hear him say. Whew. Thank Heavens. Maybe he isn't as much of a slob as I think. Maybe doing dishes is the easiest for him, and he finally decided to start.

"Thanks," I say, sending him a smile. He stares a moment, and then down into the dishwater, muttering something. I just kept focusing on this darned egg. What kind of chicken laid this? It's like some sort of sticky bomb...

"Sorry for hogging the TV," he says to me over the sounds of my frustrated scraping and his running water. "Just been a slow morning for me, you know?"

"Yeah," I call back. The egg is taunting me. I can make out a smile in the dried remains, laughing back at me as I scrape away with all my muscle. Stupid egg. Get off mah stove!

"-and maybe even lunch, so this doesn't happen."

Is he talking to me? I glance away from that darned egg to see his back to me, still working at the sink. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" I asked. I'm so mean, I should pay better attention. "I couldn't hear you, I'm having so much trouble with this egg..."

A chuckle made its way through the noise, and the water turned off. I heard him walk to me, and he took my hand gently away from the stovetop. "Let me take care of that," he said, laughing. And after switching his arm into blade form, he easily scraped the resilient egg from the surface. I glared at the teasing thing the whole way to the trashcan, fuming inside. "No big deal. I just asked if you'd want to eat out so this doesn't happen so often. Now I just need to clean it off the blade..."

He turned to reach for the paper towels forgetting his arm was as sharp as a knife, and a small pain in my arm was suddenly made known to me. And then a little wet. Something slid down to the palm of my hand...

"Oh my gosh! I'm really sorry!" Soul's dull eyes were now wide with panic, and his blade turned back into an arm with the egg bits still hanging off. "I'll- uh, um..." He's leaping around the room like a freaked out kangaroo. "Bandages... BATHROOM!" And he sprinted past me before I could even realize what he was doing.

He was such a sloth before. I had no idea he could run like that.

"It's seriously not that bad," I said as I examined it. The rummaging and loud bangs told me I'd have a whole lot to clean later. "It just bled a lot more than-"

But he rushed back out with neosporin and medical tape, his white hair flying madly. "Can... can I please see your arm?" he asked softly. Wow, a whole mood change. I held it out for him to look at.

"It isn't as bad as you think," I said, turning it for him to see. The cut was deep, but not very wide. "It's gonna be fine."

"I should be telling you that," he said angrily, wrapping it up now. He's being really gentle about it... It's just a small cut. What's with all the caution?

When he was done, he placed the bandages down and rubbed the ones on my arm lightly with one finger. "Now you have to go lie down," he said, already pushing me to my doorway.

"What?! It's only eleven in the morning!" I exclaimed. I have plans! I need to study and go to that after-school study thingy and meet some people and study some more there in the library- I HAVE A LIFE. But I was at my puny bed, and he was pulling back the sheets. "And it is really really really not as bad as you're making it out to be! I'm not even dizzy or anything!"

His dull red eyes stared into mine intently, his arms on my shoulders. "It's my job to take care of my partner, and I'm going to do it and you're going to do it too, so get in the bed, dangit."

I sighed unhappily and crawled into it, rather reluctantly. "You are so going overboard with this..." But I lay down and faced the wall, away from Soul. Whatever. I'll get up and read when he's gone.

"I'll be listening for sounds of movement," he called as he shut the door.
