An old deity depicted similarly to water nymphs in Ancient Greece whom inspired modern day saints in iconographic placement (www.deviantart.com/findingyggd… ) accustomed to “The: Fallen Angel Paradox”, closely tied into the Greek epic of the “Fall of Icarus” and the bible story of the “Tower of Babble” wherein gods were rumoured to have reached too high then fallen from the sky: or rather out of public favour.
Serapis was worshiped to aid in the fusion of the Grecian and Egyptian kingdoms and settlements: civilians of old which believed in the idea of ‘ma’at: a divine order and one’s place in it (www.britannica.com/topic/maat-… .
Bathhouses around this time and crocodiles were easily accessible to the public as a consequence Serapis was worshipped through keeping oneself clean and “holy” by burning incense and washing with soap.
