Barbara Gordon

The daughter of Gotham City's Police

Commissioner James W. Gordon, Barbara Gordon was forbidden by her overprotective father from joining the GCPD. Barbara trained diligently in martial arts and self defense classes. In secret she was training to become a vigilante. Constantly hearing about Batman's actions around Gotham through her dad, she took on the identity of Batgirl and was soon a crimefighting partner of Batman for years. Batman equipped her with the quintessential batgirl armor, outfitted with the standard array of advanced gadgets and features. She went on for a few years as batgirl, fighting slongside Batman and Robin. But that all ended when the Joker shot her through the spine (killing joke storyline) in an effort to drive Jim Gordon crazy right in his living room during a peaceful movie night.

Killing Joke

Paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair, Barbara perfected her already impressive computer hacking and intelligence gathering skills as well as develop a supercomputer net of information gathering software.

Belfry

Under the alias Oracle, she provides Batman and other heroes with surveillance, information gathering and technical support from the Belfry located in the Gotham central clock tower. The Belfry was a safegouse converted into Barbara's base of operation. It has a supercomputer, several bedrooms, a kitchen, a gym and a workshop to repair her drones.

She will frequently hijack the remote control systems of the bat-vehicles to offer additional support in field. She controls a whole army of drones to offer surveillance and assistance across the city. These include 'bats' and 'the bird of prey.' Bats are small, agile, and compact enough to carry surveillance drones made by waynetech. Bird of Prey is a hardhitting combat drone, equipped with a net launcher, propellant gun, and grenade launcher. All these drones are kept, repaired, and charged in the belfry.

She trained her upper body strength vigorously. Tried PT but could not regain the ability to walk until she recieved an implant from Wayne tech pharmaceuticals. Now with the aid of a prototype exoskeleton, she can walk again but will never be able to go into the field.

In their younger years as Batgirl and Robin, Barbara and Dick dated for quite awhile. Their relationship faded away over time. They have always loved eachother but now Dick is with Korey (starfire).

She is a determined, hardworking, and independent individual who doesn't take no for an answer. Much like her father, she is extremely analytical and logical with a hint of sarcasm. She is clearly a computer wiz but has many hobbies that allow her to take breaks from screen time such as exercise, cooking and reading. She is a caffeine addict and enjoys staying up late at night. She is also a sucker for soap operas and shows like love island.

This concept was inspired by characters in DC comics, movies, videogames, and TV shows.

For her appearance as Oracle I wanted to keep with the standard design of her as a lean, red head with glasses. However, I did not agree with the whole magically cured of her paralysis with some unknown miracle treatment. I feel like she should be taken out of the field directly but can still interact through drones and her computers. So I figured by now that technology is advanced enough to have exo-skeletons to help disabled individuals walk again. For her batgirl armor, I went with a mixture of her gotham knights design as well as the new rebirth design of her costume
