Rarity's love life was often complicated. She was the kind of mare that desired what some would call a fairytale prince charming to sweep her off her hooves. From her short lived crush on Duke Blueblood to her brief dates with Fancy Pants nothing like the ending she desired ever came around. Slightly heartbroken she returned back to her designs, however what was unexpected was a visit from a certain Pie.

Maud had long since broke it off with Mudbriar, while they remained close friends they agreed they didn't share the kind of romantic love they thought and it was simply a close friendship. Maud eventually sought out Rarity out of an interest, the mare seemed to know a lot about gemstones. Maybe she can help with identifying some in these caves.

Rarity agreed semi reluctantly, she wasn't much of a cave diver per say however it wasn't as though she had much else to do... she found she actually enjoyed this time with Maud in spelunking. A passion of hers she had long hidden she could finally talk about openly with someone who understood... and when a collapse in a cave began she very quickly found her knight in shining armor to steal her off her hooves to safety. Or rather the rocktorate doctor in a cyan shawl. To say Rarity asking her out was blunt and quick afterwards would be an understatement... but after some consideration Maud agreed.

They wed at the Pie family rock farm and had twins later on. Rarity owns several boutiques across Equestria and boasts the largest roster of creature friendly clothing, while Maud is a well respected professor and doctor in rock sciences and often holds lectures for it.

With age she has stopped obsessing over her own beauty, instead taking pride in her own flaws and owning up to the fact she knows she is beautiful no matter what to the people who care for her.

While she doesn't understand all of her wives and kids interests she loves them and finds fun in their interests because they're having fun, and she does have a sense of humor with a mild like of comedy. She's often the responsible one and the one her kids go to when seeking comfort, as she's very grounding and caring.
