Appearance > Bongo is an odd brown, and rather dark colored for a sandwing. He has a light tan underbelly and wings. He has whitish cream speckles on the tips of his wings, and blocky splotches on the undersides of his legs. He has a dark black sail that wildly flops over and is basically uncontrollable. Without his goggles holding it in place, the sail would probably cover up his eyes. He has a long tail with a barb at the end. He has bright blue eyes. His face is splattered with brown freckles.

Accessories > Bongo wears worn leather gloves, hand sewn, that fit him perfectly. They’re slightly worn but in good condition. He also wears a large pack, with leather buckles strapping around his leg and stomach. A strap wraps around his body, where several holsters for vials or bottles to be strapped in are sewn on. Perhaps his most notable accessory are the rather bulky glasses he is constantly wearing. They’re usually propped up unless he’s working.

Scars > Bongo is quite scuffled up. He has scratched up knees and a thin scar across his nose. One of his ears is nicked slightly. Despite his many experiments gone wrong he somehow never seems to come out with anything worse than a few scratches. His right eye is completely gouged out and subsequently blind on that side, matched with a trailing scar from his sail to the edge of his cheek straight through where his eye used to be. This scar is fresh and often bandaged.

Energetic > Bongo is completely and utterly always ready to go at any time of the day. You could wake him up in the middle of the night and he’d be up and ready to do whatever in seconds. He’s incredibly, almost chaotically sometimes, energetic and can be a big hard to reign in.

Good-Natured > Despite his awkwardness and sometimes blunt behavior, Bongo never really means much harm. His intentions are almost never hurtful, and he’d be horrified if something he did hurt someone.

Clever > He’s a naturally pretty knowledgeable and curious dragon. His instant love for learning has helped him a lot and he’s good at problem-solving.

Humble > He certainly hasn’t let any of his knowledge get to his head. He’s fully aware that he’s no better than any other dragon and treats others with utmost respect no matter their situation.

Thorough > Bongo is very detailed in instructions he gives and makes sure everything he says in clear. If anything, he can over-elaborate sometimes but he’s sure to make sure you understand before doing anything.

Truthful > Bongo isn’t a huge fan of lying. The way he sees it, it can get pretty exhausted to create elaborate stories to get out of things and would rather just tell the truth and deal with the consequences.

Unpredictable > Bongo is a chaotic mess of a dragon. His mind is constantly at work, racing to and fro from idea to idea a mile a minute. He’s a bit unpredictable and keeping up with him can be the challenge if you aren’t well equipped.

Pacifistic > He dislikes using violence to get his way and will always try to talk things out before turning to harm. He’ll use more distracting tactics rather than fighting, like a smoke bomb to cloud the air before fleeing.

Obsessive > Bongo can be a bit of a nitpicker. He’ll run over notes over and over, correcting things, making changes, experimenting. He becomes caught up easily and can become obsessive over larger projects or more complex things.

SECRETS:
Nearly blinded himself once > Once, Bongo overheated a glass jar, it proceeded to explode, sending glass shards and hot liquid everywhere. Bongo got some pretty nasty burns, and one of the glass shards narrowly avoided his eyes and left a deep scratch down his nose. He started wearing goggles all the time after this, to prevent further damage to his face and protect his eyes. This lead to his more cautious experimenting later on.

Cause of several ‘mysterious fires’ > Bongo knows full well where these small fires came from. Whoops. His moms do not need to know why there are burn marks all over things in his lab (so do not tell them)

FEARS:

Small Spaces > Growing up in Mezzo Town, Bongo is perhaps a bit less claustrophobic than most SandWings, however it’s still a small fear of his and he’ll become more nervous than usually if in a tight space

Hurting someone else > Bongo is perfectly fine when he manages to injure himself on accident with a more dangerous alchemy experiment, however he’s a bit nervous he might end up hurting one of his friends, so he tries to keep them away from anything potentially dangerous he makes until he’s made sure it’s safe.

WISHES/DREAMS:

Join the Alliance > Bongo cannot wait to graduate, and when the time comes he hopes to be sorted into the Order of the Shield or Illumination.

Friendship! > Expand his social life. Meet a few more trainees, maybe. He’s not exactly sure.

\\ H I S T O R Y //

Baby Dragonet > Bongo was hatched on the Isle Mezzo in Mezzo town, near the west side. He and his two mothers, Succulent and Antelope were incredibly close and they loved him dearly, even though he was a bit of a handful sometimes. He loved to climb around before he could fly, and eventually started learning how to with his mum Succulent. His first memory is clinging onto her back on his first flight with her. He loved it.

Dragonet > He started attending a normal school on the Isle, and after his class tried turning fire green using copper powder as a fun activity, it all started. His obsession with science. He started buying or lending all the books on it he could, and read them, even if he didnt understand some of the words yet. His parents were surprised at first, but overall fine with their child's new hobby. Until he started breaking stuff of course. He took things apart to study them, and usually managed to put them back together. Usually. The two considered it harmless fun and he, at first, hid the fact that he was in reality doing more serious things by setting things up in the basement where they rarely ever checked what he was doing.

One day while wandering around a forest, he came across a porcupine. He tried to pet it. The result was an injured hand and a hatred of the prickly creatures.

Around this time Bongo realized he was trans and both of his parents, despite their inherent worry about his scientific ventures, were fully supportive and were quick to help him figure out anything he needed to know.

Getting bored of all the more ‘simple’ things he’d been stuck doing, he started noticeably experimenting with more dangerous stuff, much to his mothers worry. They couldn't seem to stop him from it though, and politely asked him to do everything dangerous down in the basement (which he had already been doing). Succulent reluctantly helped him get his claws on any hard to obtain materials that he needed. After a glass bottle exploded and nearly blinded him, he only told Succulent, who bought him his goggles and gloves to help protect her son. He's worn them all the time since. Antelope, who was often busy at work, still noticed his scars and slowly became more and more angry at him for being so irresponsible, though at this point was unable to deter him from doing these ‘science things’ that she considered useless. Succulent tried to talk to her but it fell on mostly deaf ears. She ended up moving her and her stuff into a room upstairs, where he ‘couldn't accidentally take them and end up blowing them up.’ Succulent was upset but for the most part understood her wife’s concerns so never said anything beyond a bit of grumbling.

During the firestorm, his parents' house was burned down, and to Bongos dismay a lot of his research and things were destroyed. He managed to salvage or memorize some of it though. He got out and did help evacuate several dragons after he was sure his family was safe. He got out with only a few burns. He managed to catch the Alliance's eye for the first time with his efforts after a few members spotted him helping lead out a few dragons.

Young Adult > After the fire, he helped in the general rebuilding of Mezzo Town. He rebuilt his little basement cave and rewrote all the notes he could remember. He started testing with the nearby patch of forest, and what the fire did to it, where he first met Crake. They were interested in what he was doing, and felt Bongo would make a great trainee, despite being a bit high-strung. After inquiring about it, The Council recognized his efforts in the fire and although he’s a bit of a handful, they’re trusting he can loop all his energy into good for the Alliance. Antelope is grateful that this will provide him a more safe environment to try things and is in a significantly better mood. Succulent is just proud of her son and is glad to see him finally getting to live out his dreams.
