It may not be the best in the world but for those on a very limited budget, it doesn't do that bad of a job once you're accustomed to it.

I've tried using Gimp a few times when I didn't have access to Windows (was using Ubuntu for awhile) and I didn't find it too bad. It had most if not all of the functions the version of PS I usually use has..I just found it a bit confusing since I'd been using the same program for some many years I kept looking for things in the wrong places in Gimp xD

I agree. The biggest problem for Gimp (especially for pixel artists) is merely the adjustment to it. I know there are some filters it is missing out on that are used somewhat frequently. I'm hopping back and forth GIMP and PS frequently (GIMP on the laptop and PS on the desktop) and it gets more confusing to be hopping back and forth
