Description Feeling something amiss with the darkness, the Shadowbinder shook herself and flew out of the crevice she had been resting. She saw the others gathered, horrified, put aside their differences to view the black mass cover the horizon.

She watched as they seemed to silently agree that (after Flamecaller’s initial blast of flame towards the mass as its tendrils continued to block out the light and started to take in energy), as one they would attack the mass that was so wrong to her senses.

It looked like it was going well for a moment as they each destroyed parts of the whole, that is, until the mass retaliated.

The ones known as Earthshaker and Stormcatcher were grabbed and thrown a distance to another part of the mass where more of its dark tendrils were waiting, the two gods were bludgeoned against each other repeatedly before being thrown to the ground, causing an earthquake and making creators.

Both the Flamecaller and the Icewarden were forced to call off their attacks, lest they hit each other. Due to tendrils swirling around them both which herded them towards one another before, in the pause, developed claws to cut them apart, causing deep slashes to appear before they could defend themselves.

The Tidelord was swatted aside as the dark mass developed great maws, and, as the Tidelord went back for another attack, used the maws and tendrils in unison to bind and then started sucking away his power.

The Windsinger was struck by both the claws and the mouths, the darkness did not even bother to bind this one, and as the figure of the Windsinger fell back to the earth, just continued to follow.

The darkness retaliated with bindings and claws for the Lightweaver before slowly creating a mouth much larger than the others.

The Shadowbinder was entranced- this happened only in a few moments.

It took Her very little time to finish analysing the darkness once She’d snapped herself out of it, because She’d started as soon as She’d felt it appear. It wasn’t even darkness- not true darkness anyway, let alone a shadow.

Her fellow gods still appeared to be stuck where the, the- Shade; a poor imitation of true shadows and darkness, wanted them.

She watched as the Shade finished creating the large mouth and, when it opened wide, noticed it had long, sharp innumerable teeth, clearly able to eat the Lightweaver whole and absorb His energy that way.

As the Shade was about to bite down a great roar was heard as the Shadowbinder flew in the way, at the same time summoning Her own shadows to destroy the maw, as Her shadows rose throughout the area they not only destroyed the large mouth, they dispersed the Shade around the areas where the other Gods were kept. Distracting it long enough for them to free themselves and regroup; though they warily kept watching the pieces of the darkness.

And the first thing the Shadowbinder heard was the accusing “Lose control of your shadows?” from the Flamecaller as they neared. She snarled, angered, and ground out “it was my shadows that just saved you remember”, which the Tidelord snidely said “Yes, from yourself” only to be interrupted by the Shadowbinder.

“Not mine.” At the disbelieving scoffs She continued “It’s not a true shadow and its certainly not the darkness I control. It’s wrong.” The Lightweaver chuckled “We thought this was you finally joining the battle.” Glancing at the Shadowbinder, he added “that would be just like you, coming in with a calculated big, war-ending attack that would end us all, that would enable you to rule over the domain by yourself.”

“This Shade, it is a poor imitation of my shadows and the darkness.” Glancing at Her brother, she added “and, you may not like to hear this, but shadows exist when there is light, so why would I be happy if that light were to be completely wiped out?”

He nodded, a little shocked “You’re right, I don’t like it, but this,” He glanced at Her “Shade?” at Her nod he looked up “this Shade doesn’t feel right, like it doesn’t belong”.

Stormcatcher interrupted anything else that would have been said with a simple “it’s restored” they looked at each other one last time, and paired up  in order to help look out for each other, before taking to the sky, aiming to wipe out the Shade that seemed to feed off of their power.

The battle was far from over; in fact it would be a long few centuries before the dark mass that the Shadowbinder named Shade would be defeated, but this little victory proved they could overpower and eventually destroy it.
