To be honest, Sonic wasn't originally targeted at a young audience (and thusly that's why I hate Sonic now, because they dumbed him down for fucking little fanbrats that aren't even in the double digits), and if they were to introduce the idea in, I think it'd be more widely accepted. But I feel that kids should know one way or another that it's ok to be gay and to accept people for who they are...not necessarily from a video game lol.
