i designed bertram 4 years ago today (on august 22, 2019)... so it made sense to give him a redraw today. not much of his design overall was changed, i just wasn't very satisfied with his old reference art since it's from over 2 years ago. he's a red-tailed hawk.

originally, bertram was one of the 7 main characters of cotbs, but i decided to scrap that, kinda - i decided back in january that this didn't really work for the story i was trying to tell. long story short, tobias is the main character and the other 6 will appear occasionally in supporting roles depending on the episode. more on that subject is mentioned on my toyhouse account: toyhou.se/~bulletins/1103728.m…

bertram is set to appear in episode 5 (in similar circumstances to his planned introduction before i really started writing the series), and as of writing this description, the first scene he's in is in progress right now. he's the nephew of dr. freilich - and unfortunately, he was kidnapped by his uncle's organization at some point before his introduction.

i feel like bertram's introduction in the story is probably gonna coincide with the reintroduction of his cousin, matilda (they have quite a bit in common) - and, at some point, his two dads (who are going to be redesigned soon because it's been a similarly long time since i've drawn them).
