I guess I just fiddled around with digital a lot, and incorporate techniques I've seen people use that I like. I try to do something new each time - like for this deviation I tried mixing soft shading with cell shading like I've seen some anime do, and now for the current picture I'm drawing I'm working on doing lineart with thinner lines since it seems that makes it look better. Two deviations ago I started messing around with locking layers and recoloring the lineart.

It's been a long process, so I hope I'm improving!
