I never understood the hole concept of adopting a picture.
Maybe you can explain to me how that all works.

well, what you can do with it changes depending on who's selling, but I think adopts are more the marketing of designs and whole characters and stuff than simply buying a picture. some people may buy for simple aesthetic purposes, and others may use it in their own stories. and, from the selling side, it's kind of like commissions, but instead of getting an order in to make something, we're selling ready-made things, so to speak.
