Shawn likes talking, but at the same time prefers not to because his stutter makes it a chore. Adults are embarrassed by his stutter and kids make fun of it, calling him Stuttering Shawn. Usually he'd just listen to his music on his iPod during his spare time, but he eventually rediscovered his bike after he had his iPod taken away once and rode it almost religiously. Soon he met Alisha Mills, who listened patiently through his stutter and accepted him despite her inward anger at life. She accepted him and he accepted her, and soon they met Peter Pettington and the other members of the Losers' Club and are friends with them to this day.
