Description
this is a mirror given to govenor bellingham by french imbasirot Lafiet at the dedication of the bunkerhill moument.it not only is a very large mirror (at lest 8 feet tall and aobut 6 wide) it is also gold leafed. I actly had a small hand in the restoration prosses of this as well (by that i mean i glued on a small pice of gold...)
the mirror had been painted at some point and the origenal crest at the top broken off. the resortration done brought it back to its origenl look, as seen here.
i belve the backing is also silver, as that was what was used to creat mirros of that day.
it was hung in the foyer for so long that the wall paper behind it was the origenal. in at lest two hundered years it had not moved, and from the paper that was behind it, the museum will now be restored to its origenal wall paper in a copel f the rooms.
