Day 154, Year 4 C.S.
SOLARI RESEARCH AND ARCHIVAL INITIATIVE
PUBLIC REPORT 21
---------------------------
Knowledge, Strength, Swiftness. The Scholar, the Guardian, the Hunter.
Three paradigms which served as the foundation for the second Solari generation, commonly referred to as the "**Second Design**" in the recovered texts.
Much less volatile and unstable than the scarcely documented previous generation, they appear to be the first to have a widespread presence.
Despite sharing evident physical resemblance with their successors, their lack of wings, their body size, and class-bound markings clearly sets them apart from the third generation.
Beyond their appearance, however, they are further separated by their abilities.
While the newer generation enjoys a wide variety of magic powers with a not yet fully understood limit, the second generation appears to bear stronger abilities, channeled around their core purpose.
Scholars are gifted with an impressive ability to observe, analyze and learn. Nothing remains unknown to them for long, and they can transmit their knowledge with ease.
Guardians possess an extraordinary strength and an ability to create energy barriers, giving nigh-impenetrable protection to those they seek to defend.
Hunters, on the contrary, enjoy an incredible nimbleness, making them unparalleled in combat. Their magic lets them summon close range weaponry, making them most fearsome foes.
In exchange for these powerful abilities, second generation Solari lack the reality-bending magic the third generation has; extensive form-shifting, flight and telekinesis being the most common applications.
Their common purpose, much like the other generations, is as of yet still unknown. A common theory is that they were designed to assist any sentient species they would have stumbled upon, should their awakening happen under normal, less dramatic circumstances.
While this theory cannot be proved nor disproved, all possibilities must be considered as we recover from their discovery, and dig deeper into our past.
It is likely this second generation will offer us more insight and a greater understanding of those who lived before us.
Their less versatile design makes them easier to study and understand; as we unearth more and more of them, we will learn more about our shared History.
