I don't know where my sudden interest in this pairing came from, but damn does it look adorable now that I've seen this! It's amazing how you managed to make Starscream's bitchy snarkiness show through as well as OP's noble innocence-- awww, sorry OP, you got carried by the "bride"!

This pairing is one of my top favorites, so I'm glad I somehow managed to convey the amusing dynamics it can offer, what with one being the most selfish opportunist ever and the other a possibly naive, certainly well-meaning guy.
...the bride there procured a mate with violence and trickery, in perfect seeker style.
(I like to think the headbutt was an instinctual reaction to something exaggerately soft or mushy Optimus did or attempted to do. That didn't end well.)

Sadly, Optimus doing something soft or mushy is just... Well, it's just so OPTIMUS. (I'd probably headbutt my dude, too, if I was in a bad enough mood)
WHY is Optimus so naive and endearing??! He's too easy to step all over! Just look at Starscream's smug little (big?) smirk-- right there! And there! I take comfort in the fact that Starscream will have to live with Optimus' nobility and righteousness.

I suspect that behind the gentle exterior, Optimus is more than capable of taking SS's bitchiness in stride (and maybe turn it against him - like the headbutt? That probably ended in some inappropriate petting of sore helmets.)

Optimus is a secret genius! Get a headbutt, hurt SS, and pet the poor Seeker's helmet without getting slapped away. I honestly want to see Optimus get really cranky like he did in G1 when ORDERING Sideswipe to give him his jetpack. "NOW!"
But you're right: his calm reaction to stress would really be effective in pissing off Starscream. "WHY ARE YOU SO CALM??!"
