We can tell that Nintendo has...a LOT of dark characters. And so does Pixar...
But...
Hearing (and reading) about Miles Axlerod...His personalities and mannerisms are none more better than those of the next villian!
He's actually the hybrid of Bowser and King Dedede.
To believe that he's his own..yeah he is-- --but he's mainly hunked up from Dedede in that he wanted to destroy Lightning McQueen like Dedede wanted to destroy Kirby.
The Bowser part factors in the 'deception' and cleverness he has/had. And I do think that 'Kirby: Right Back At Ya!' was referenced too in 'Cars 2,' with Prof Z being the stand-in for none other than Escargoon--
Escargoon who is also a professor, produces weapons, plots to kill Kirby, etc.

Cars 2 is probably just a big Kirby reference for all those who look VERY close...
