Description
I wanted to try painting a fairy tale or two, and Red Riding Hood was just the first one that popped into my head. So I sketched it out and I really liked the colours and the composition and the abstractness and the sense of danger......but I hated her face. It was a bland pretty filler face, the kind that drives me nuts on other people's work. It was the same old 'boring, helpless passive Red Riding Hood is pretty for the story' that, well, always made it so boring (at least while wandering around in the woods).
So I figured I'd give her an actual expression. And then I didn't want her to be just randomly happy because she just looked clueless about the wolf, and then I realised that actually, she was smiling because she had a dagger hidden in her cloak and she was quite dangerous. That poor starving wolf went from monster to soon-to-be-pelt.
And then I realised that I'd basically drawn Arya Stark with her direwolf.

I like twisted fairytales.
I agree she could work more on the concealed weaponry part but it is for our benefit right?

From A to B to F, eh? Weird how that works.
(But she should work more on the actual "concealed weaponry" part. )
